Practicing Tummo and so on, after a long time of getting used to it for six months, a year, or three years, etc., then the signs appear later, and the lama also prophesies that it will appear like that, but one does not have complete faith in oneself, and this is also unreasonable. If the very first day of practice is the practice of the true reality, then it is reasonable for the signs to appear immediately. If it is not the practice of reality, then these have no difference from the aspects of the object of focus, and the subsequent practices will also become not true practices. If you also accept that, then your Dharma is indeed so true in reality, but it is also unreasonable for true signs to appear from a long time of getting used to the reversed path, and if the signs are also reversed signs, then for the lamas and disciples who strive for merely getting used to the reversed for a long time, it is a wonder that is beyond words. Also, if what is practiced from the first day is pure, but its signs appear after a long time, then it is like saying, "The sun rises today, but the light appears tomorrow, how strange!" Therefore, if the root is good, then one session between sessions; for a medium root, then any one time during the day or night; even the worst root, practice for one day and one night, the path where there is no doubt that signs will appear is this Dharma alone. Then, isn't it contradictory that many people who are given guidance now experience signs after a few days? When a beginner practices four sessions, sometimes the mind can abide on the object of focus, but most of the time it cannot, so when the previous and subsequent instances of focusing the mind on the object are added up to reach the amount of one day and one night, signs will definitely appear, and a non-conceptual meditation will arise effortlessly and naturally, which is a part of the descending vajra. Therefore, although it is not at all necessary to continuously focus on the object with one-pointedness for one day, because it does not include the conduct between sessions and the respectful effort of mental wandering, so as it is said, "It is impossible not to have signs when practicing the Yoga of Naropa for one day," and there is no contradiction in not having signs appear for two or three days when practicing mixed with distraction. In general, even people nowadays, from the very first day of entering the meditation of this Dharma, experience signs and the descending vajra.
