Because it's unnecessary to go too far. Also, during the actual empowerment, the mantra and mudra, as well as the blessings of the samadhi ritual, and those vast combinations of words clearly proclaimed, if they don't lead to obtaining the mantra vows, then it's unreasonable to obtain the vows merely through a promise without any of those things, which even a fool can understand. Such behavior of a wise person recklessly displaying wisdom is inconceivable. Furthermore, if the actual rituals such as the water empowerment are all rituals related to taking vows, then the vows would become rituals that follow after having already been obtained through taking vows. If they are unrelated, then the empowerment itself would become not at all a ritual for mantra vows. Even merely promising to protect the vows in all ways, starting from the upasatha vows, is not the actual ritual for obtaining vows, but merely a branch of the ritual. Please keep this in mind, and don't assume that just because it's a newly emerged Buddhist term, it's necessarily a well-spoken explanation. Therefore, mantra vows are obtained through the actual ritual, while taking vows is when the disciple promises to protect the vows so that the teacher can empower the disciple. If it's related to daily confession, it will also become relying on the path, otherwise it will also be included in the category of generating bodhicitta. Here, taking the vows of the six families is a substitute for the taking of vows of the five families that occurs elsewhere. Apart from the two, the wheel and the lotus, most are the same, although the forms are slightly different, this is more extensive in meaning than the five families. Among them, the so-called Vajra family generally includes both Akshobhya and Vajrasattva. Also, the Vajra family, divided into Vajra and Kartrika, is Akshobhya, and the Kartrika family is Vajrasattva. Furthermore, the five-pronged Vajra family is Akshobhya, and the three-pronged and one-pronged families are Vajrasattva. Here, what is intended are five: the vow of the five-pronged Vajra Akshobhya family is the Vajra Mind Vow, which is to meditate on great compassion and bodhicitta, and the bell and vajra speech vow is to meditate on wisdom emptiness with a non-elaborate form,

The samaya of the body mudra is to increase one's own body, speech, and mind, as well as the inner and outer contents, through the yoga of the deity. It is either the common generation-completion or the samaya of the generation stage. In terms of the true meaning of the completion stage, on top of the previous ones for both mind and speech, for the mind, in order to be the cause of unchanging bliss, one trains in the practice of binding the mind of enlightenment; for speech, in order to be the cause of indestructible sound, one strives to place the life force into the central channel and bind it; for the body, although it is not necessary to have the basis of the generation stage as a foundation, it is still a good part. The essence is to accomplish the great mudra of emptiness and form, and to protect it again and again. The commonality of both is the samaya of the teacher, that is, the lama who empowers oneself into the supreme mandala and bestows the grace of Vajra Yoga, one should know that he is no different from the lord of the mandala, the embodiment of all Buddhas, and serve him with all things. Thus, this is mainly the subsequent practice samaya, and the latter six, which are separated from the former three, are mainly the samaya of equanimity. Thus, the samaya of the Akshobhya family is the root of the samayas of all other families. The samaya of the Ratnasambhava family is to give ten kinds of generosity, and those ten are: jewels, iron, copper, cattle, horses, elephants, women, land, a desired wife, and one's own flesh. These are called the ten kinds of generosity. As it is said, when there is something to give and the time is ripe, one should actually give, even to beggars or animals, one should give a mouthful of food, or to pretas and so on, one should give a small torma every day. Even if there is nothing to actually give, one should not be separated from the mind of giving, the boundary of the samaya is to remember the mind of giving material generosity represented by the ten kinds of generosity, and to remember the aspiration to fulfill the wishes of sentient beings through generosity, remembering it three times a day, morning, noon, and evening. The wheel, that is, the samaya of the Vairochana family, is to rely on the five amritas of the victorious five Buddha families, and the five iron hooks of the five mothers. Beginners should eat a pill of samaya substance the size of a mustard seed, and bless all food and drink as samaya substances before consuming them.
