Because there is no commitment whatsoever, it is the ultimate faultlessness in that way. They say, "Because I have no vows, I am the only faultless one." This means that because there is no commitment to acknowledge the truth, I have no fault of being sent to speak the truth. If it is not so, if there is no commitment or vow, then if I have no vow, it is an admission, and how does it contradict the vow that "I am the only faultless one"? If there is a vow of silence, one should not say, "I am in a vow of silence." Similarly, if there is no commitment, one should not commit to "I am the only faultless one." Some also say, "If your Tathagatagarbha and ultimate Dharmakaya are permanent, then during meditation, one should also meditate thinking 'it is permanent'." Then, those of you who desire neither permanence nor annihilation, free from elaboration, should also meditate thinking 'it is like that'. Some also say, "If there is Tathagatagarbha and ultimate Dharmakaya, it contradicts being free from elaboration in the ultimate sense." This is not contradictory, because there is freedom from elaboration in the ultimate sense, and the reason why there is Tathagatagarbha and ultimate Dharmakaya is also because there is freedom from elaboration in the ultimate sense. If, like you, there is no freedom from elaboration in the ultimate sense, then there would be elaboration in the ultimate sense, as the glorious Dharmakirti said, "If a tree falls, a tree will be seen." He also said, "In order to understand the reality of two negations." Similarly, if there is no selflessness, there will be a self. Some who consider the final teaching to be definitive say, "The Tathagatagarbha of sentient beings possesses two purities, because the sphere is naturally completely pure, and from the beginning, it is pure from adventitious stains that are to be abandoned." This is similar to positing one existence as proof of two existences, because there is no difference whatsoever between natural purity and being pure from stains from the beginning. In that case, all adventitious stains would also become possessed of two purities, because there is no phenomenon that is not naturally completely pure in the sphere, or that is not a phenomenon that has not been stained by adventitious stains from the beginning. Furthermore, because it possesses purity and affliction.

For the sake of being purified from all afflictions. Moreover, it contradicts the scriptural authority of "impure, impure, pure, and extremely pure in order." To those who say this, it does not contradict that scriptural authority, because we believe that the Tathagatagarbha of sentient beings possesses two purities of essential nature, but it is not possessing two purities relative to sentient beings. Then, relative to sentient beings, it will also become possessing two purities, because relative to sentient beings, the Dharmadhatu is naturally pure, and due to temporary defilements, it is pure from the beginning. Pervasive exclusion has been promised, and the sign is established as a reason, that is, any dharma relative to any dharma, the Dharmadhatu is not naturally impure, and there is no defilement that is not pure from the beginning. If it exists, please say what it is. Also, some say, saying "exists" is one extreme. Saying "does not exist" is one extreme. Because it is said like this. The Tathagatagarbha and the ultimate Dharmakaya exist ultimately, which is falling into one extreme. So they say. Listen, its meaning is like this, if you promise that any dharma does not exist ultimately, you will fall into one extreme, because all ultimate dharmas exist ultimately. If you promise that all dharmas exist ultimately, you will fall into one extreme, because conventional dharmas do not exist ultimately. Similarly, if you promise that all ultimate dharmas exist conventionally, you will fall into one extreme, because ultimate dharmas do not exist conventionally. If you promise that any dharma does not exist conventionally, you will fall into one extreme, because all conventional dharmas exist conventionally. In that case, then the faults of not knowing the distinction between the two truths that will appear below, and the scriptural authority of the benefits of knowing should also be received. With this reasoning, in Maitreya's Ornament of the Sutras, "Therefore, the Buddha exists not, nor is it said to be non-existent," it is necessary to know that this also refers to that meaning. If it is not like that, it contradicts the Uttaratantra. Here it is said, Although there are many stars of evil intelligence speaking, They cannot blossom the lotus garden of profound meaning. They cannot dispel the thick darkness of wrong views, They cannot illuminate the ground of the Buddha's teachings. Only the sun of the Fifth Council,
