It is said that if one examines and analyzes other dependent arisings, afflictions, and conceptual thoughts, which are all mundane conditioned phenomena, they are non-existent. The ultimate realm of reality is by nature permanent, by nature blissful, by nature pure, by nature unconditioned and spontaneously accomplished, the object of individual self-awareness wisdom, profound, subtle, difficult to realize, inconceivable, seen by the eye of wisdom, the basis for benefiting oneself and others, the vision of yogis in equipoise, of one taste like space, self-arisen wisdom, the ultimate truth, the ultimate reality, the Sugata-garbha, the profound nature of reality, endowed with inherent qualities, not empty of the supreme Dharma, the Tathagata-dhatu, naturally free from suffering, the ultimate refuge, the ultimate refuge, and so on. These are said with the intention of the perfectly established nature of phenomena from form to omniscience. And in this way, the Bhagavan also said: 'Knowing existence as it is, is truly knowing.' The Tathagata-garbha is indivisible, inseparable, and not empty of Buddha-dharmas that are inconceivable and more numerous than the sands of the Ganges River, and so on. Maitreya also said: 'Of the nature of non-differentiation, not empty of the supreme Dharma.' And: 'That which is real without substance, that emptiness is other than that.' The noble Manjushri also said: 'If the aggregates and so forth are analyzed, like a water tree, there is no essence. That emptiness, endowed with all supreme aspects, does not change in that way.' The noble Asanga also said: 'That which does not exist there, does not always exist there,' thus knowing as it is. Why is it called Suchness? Because it is immutable. Why is it called the Ultimate Truth? Because it is an object without perversion. Why is it called Ultimate? Because it is the object of the noble wisdom of the holy ones. Vasubandhu also said:

Because the object is not non-existent in the ultimate sense. Furthermore, the great being, the noble Nagarjuna, also said: "Like a cloth purified by fire, Stained by various impurities, If it is put into the fire, The impurities are burned away, but the cloth does not change, Likewise, the mind that is luminous, Stained by desire and other impurities, With the fire of wisdom burns away the afflictions, Likewise, the luminosity does not change." And also: "Here, nirvana itself, Is the mind transformed into stainlessness." And also: "In the stainless Dharmakaya, The ocean of wisdom is transformed into abiding, Like various jewels, From that, it perfectly accomplishes the benefit of sentient beings." And also: "Emaho! Extremely difficult to realize, The suchness that the Buddhas realize." And so on, he spoke immeasurably. Therefore, all that is said to be non-existent refers to the completely imputed. All that is said to be illusory refers to the dependent. All that is said to be existent refers to the thoroughly established. Thus, in this third turning of the wheel, it is well distinguished and explained, so there is no room for doubt and wrong views. The completely imputed and the dependent are non-existent in the ultimate sense, and the thoroughly established is existent in the ultimate sense, these two are not contradictory, so the places of contention are also pacified. It is said: Some Dharma practitioners in the land of snows, The Indian Dharma friends and the Tibetan elders of the past, Said that the second turning of the wheel is definitive, I wonder if they have not gone beyond this saying, and are narrow-minded? However, the Buddhas and their sons, In a very clear way, spoke that The third turning is definitive, and the second turning is provisional, Those who can refute this must have a strong heart. This is an intermediate verse. In short, because it does not accord with their own wishes, they also refute the statement that the third turning of the wheel is definitive, they also refute Nagarjuna's "Collection of Praises to the Middle Way," they also refute the treatises of Asanga, who was prophesied to "distinguish the definitive and provisional meanings of the sutras in many ways," by saying that they do not go beyond mind-only, they also refute Vasubandhu, who was born as a pandita for five hundred lifetimes, manifested eighty hundred thousand works, and was prophesied to be a holder of the teachings, by saying that he does not go beyond mind-only. With the power of a single verse of praise and declaration of commitment in the *Compendium of Valid Cognition*, the earth shook, and great light and sound
