There is no contradiction in saying that it is definitive in the ultimate sense and definitive in the temporary sense, and that it is true in the conventional sense, etc. The sutras, tantras, and treatises explain this extensively. Therefore, there is no contradiction in establishing the first two wheels as temporarily definitive. Detailed Explanation of the Distinction Between Direct and Indirect Meaning The detailed explanation of the three wheels being established as direct and indirect meaning, including refutation, establishment, and abandonment, is as follows: Some consider the intermediate teachings to be the ultimate definitive meaning, while the final teachings are considered indirect meaning. However, this is extensively explained by the Buddha's own teachings, refuting based on commitments, and refuting various other misconceptions. There are four aspects. Refuting the View that the Intermediate is Definitive Firstly, in the sutra that definitively explains the Buddha's intention, it says: "The Blessed One, in the beginning, in Varanasi, in the Deer Park of the Rishis, for those who have entered the Hearer Vehicle, taught the aspects of the Four Noble Truths. Thus, he turned a wheel of Dharma that was wondrous and amazing, one that had never been turned in the world in accordance with the Dharma by anyone, whether god or human. The wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One was supreme, intermittent, indirect in meaning, and a place of contention. The Blessed One, starting from the non-existence of the essence of phenomena, the non-arising, the non-cessation, the peace from the beginning, and the self-nature completely liberated, for those who have entered the Great Vehicle, turned the second wheel of Dharma, which was extremely wondrous and amazing, in the form of proclaiming emptiness. The wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One was also supreme, intermittent, indirect in meaning, and a place of contention. The Blessed One, starting from the non-existence of the essence of phenomena, the non-arising, the non-cessation, the peace from the beginning, and the self-nature completely liberated, for those who have entered all vehicles, turned the third wheel of Dharma, which was extremely wondrous and amazing, possessing excellent distinctions. The wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One was not supreme, not intermittent,

It is the definite meaning, not a matter of dispute. Thus it was said. Please look at such clear statements. Saying that the second teaching is definitive and the third teaching is provisional, there is no such teaching in the Tibetan translations that can be established. The Five Dharmas of Maitreya, the Three Cycles of the Samdhinirmocana Sutra, the Ornament Six and the Two Supreme Ones, who explained the intention of the teachings, are not found in the authoritative treatises. The Dharma Teacher said that the intermediate teaching is definitive and the third is provisional. We, the followers of Shakyamuni, ask that Shakyamuni and the Dharma Teacher be taken and rejected without error. It is also important to purify pure perception for the Dharma Teacher. After saying that, saying that the third teaching is definitive, saying that the teaching is provisional, there is no pure reasoning except for blindly following, and it must be refuted once. There are other desperate words. After that verse from the Sutra Explaining the Thought, the Blessed One, in the ultimate truth, the Arya, after hearing this third turning of the Dharma wheel, having faith, writing and holding it, reading and making offerings, teaching, explaining the meaning, and meditating in the mind, how much merit will be generated? After asking this. The Buddha said, it is not easy to make an analogy, but to put it briefly, the dust on the tip of a finger and the dust on the ground, and the water in the hoofprint of a cow and the water of the four great oceans, compared to one hundredth to one millionth is not close. Similarly, from having faith in the first and second turnings of the Dharma wheel, the merit of hearing, thinking, and meditating, and from having faith in the third turning of the Dharma wheel, compared to the merit between hearing, thinking, and meditating, one hundredth to one millionth is not close. What is the name of this Dharma category? The Buddha said, this can also be named as showing the ultimate truth of definitive meaning. Because the Blessed One does not lie, he says that what is not definitive is definitive, and what is not provisional is provisional. The venerable Maitreya said, there is no one in the world more intelligent than the Buddha, so do not disturb the sutras that the Buddha has established as provisional and definitive.
