Because there were no kind translators and scholars who translated the last turning of the Dharma wheel of the Tathagata and its commentaries into Tibetan. Also, it is clearly stated in the many teachings of masters like Phagmo Drupa, Chökyi Je Karma Rangjung Dorje, Chöje Dzimpa Chenpo, Puranampa Kunga Gyaltsen, and many other Indian and Tibetan scholars and accomplished beings. However, there is concern that one might fall into sectarian bias and develop attachment and aversion. Now, there are few who believe in and follow the Tathagata's teachings. Some people say, "In the analysis of sects and the establishment of right and wrong, Budön and Dolpopa did not complete it, so can you complete it?" Some with small minds therefore despise, not only do they not listen themselves, but they also prevent others from having faith. This is simply the language of demons and seems very unreasonable. First, the answer to "the same from the beginning" is: In the past, the Tathagatas, with skillful means and great compassion, appeared as countless, immeasurable, and limitless Buddhas, but because they were unable to place all stubborn and difficult-to-tame beings in the state of maturity and liberation. Can't practitioners make any beings mature and liberated? So many Buddhas have not subdued them, so who can subdue them now? Just leave it there? In order to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all beings, shouldn't one accumulate the two accumulations for this purpose? Shouldn't one practice the two stages? Shouldn't one practice generosity and other perfections? Shouldn't one practice the ten virtues? Shouldn't one practice the three: hearing, thinking, and meditating? Maybe you think that's enough, but we don't think that's enough. Therefore, Mahayana practitioners, motivated by compassion for all beings, do their best to liberate beings from the ten non-virtuous deeds and place them in the ten virtuous deeds. All-Knowing Dolpopa also failed to place all beings in the correct view, but he placed many beings in the correct view. Therefore, although we cannot place all beings in the correct view, we think it is worthwhile to liberate even one being from the serious obscuration of wrong views and Dharma abandonment. Therefore, from the pure sutras and tantras, the teachings on the basis, path, and fruit of the correct view—union—are taught.

I am pleased to explain this fifth compilation. Some say that since the Madhyamaka-Prasaṅgika school has no assertions, it is ultimately faultless in that way. They say, "Since I have no vows, I am the only one without faults." This means that since I have no vows to assert what is truly existent, I have no faults to attribute to those who assert reality. If it is not like that, and there are no assertions or vows, then how can it not contradict the vow that I have vowed that I have no vows, and that I am the only one without faults? If I am in a state of silence, I cannot even say that I am in a state of silence. Similarly, if there are no assertions, it is not permissible to assert that I am the only one without faults. Some also say that if your Tathāgatagarbha and ultimate Dharmakāya are permanent, then you must meditate on them as permanent during meditation. Then you must meditate that those who desire neither permanence nor annihilation, but freedom from elaboration, are also like that. Some also say that if there is Tathāgatagarbha and ultimate Dharmakāya, it contradicts being free from elaboration in the ultimate sense. That is not contradictory, because there is freedom from elaboration in the ultimate sense, and the reason why there is Tathāgatagarbha and ultimate Dharmakāya is also because there is freedom from elaboration in the ultimate sense. If, according to you, that freedom from elaboration in the ultimate sense does not exist, then there would be elaboration in the ultimate sense. The glorious Dharmakīrti said, "If a tree is destroyed, a tree will be seen," and also said, "Because the true nature of two negations is understood." Similarly, if selflessness does not exist, then there will be a self. Some who consider the final teachings to be definitive say that the Tathāgatagarbha of sentient beings has two purities, because the essence is naturally completely pure, and because the adventitious stains to be abandoned are pure from the beginning. This is like establishing the existence of one as proof of the existence of two, because there is no difference between natural purity and purity from the beginning of stains. In that case, all adventitious stains would also become twofold pure, because any dharma is either naturally completely pure in essence, or adventitious stains from the beginning.
