Since countless sentient beings have strengthened the habitual tendencies of samsara from before, they grasp impermanence as permanence. They grasp suffering as happiness, and they grasp selflessness as self. After this power has increased, as an antidote to these, it is taught that "all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, all contaminated phenomena are suffering, all phenomena are selfless, and all nirvana is peaceful." Isn't this the first turning of the wheel of Dharma? If one thinks that since the first turning has been taught, it would be reasonable to then teach the ultimate third turning, it is still not suitable as a vessel for teaching the ultimate meaning. The reason for this is that after teaching the first turning of the wheel, although one realizes the selflessness of the person who is permanent, singular, and independent, one still clings to whether the nature of fire is heat and the nature of water is moisture are also true in the ultimate sense, and one does not realize the selflessness of phenomena. Similarly, one does not realize that the apprehended objects such as external forms, and the consciousness that apprehends these objects, are selfless phenomena. These become obstacles to seeing the Sugata-garbha. As an antidote to these, it is taught that "if one examines and analyzes all conventional phenomena, they are non-existent." Thus, the second turning of the wheel, such as the conventional self-emptiness and the profound Prajnaparamita of not thinking about anything and not discriminating anything, is turned, isn't it? After that, although these conventional, temporary phenomena are non-existent when examined and analyzed, the appearance does not cease even when not examined, and it remains the conventional truth. And if one examines and analyzes the naturally luminous Sugata-garbha of the mind, one will find that there is nothing other than this, and this is the ultimate truth of the ultimate meaning. Thus, the third turning of the wheel, which is well-differentiated, is taught, isn't it? Someone said: Some people speak without knowing, and some people know but deliberately conceal. I have taught with a mind of benefiting others because I have understood. May the intelligent and those who seek the Dharma be pleased. This is an intermediate verse. Some people say: What you say seems very reasonable, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have said the same. Have the previous lamas also practiced in this way? The Great Sage has also repeatedly taught in this way, as it is said in the Sutra of the Great Compassion of the Tathagata: The Tathagata also knows the impure realm, which is impermanent.

By speaking of suffering, impermanence, selflessness, and impurity, he caused beings who delight in samsara to develop aversion. And he introduced them to the Vinaya of the Noble Ones. Not only that, the Tathagata did not abandon diligence. Afterwards, by speaking of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, he caused them to realize the nature of the Tathagata. Not only that, the Tathagata did not abandon diligence. Afterwards, by the words of the irreversible Dharma, the words of the three wheels being completely pure, he introduced those with various natures as causes into the realm of the Tathagata. Entering and realizing the Dharma-nature of the Tathagata is called the unsurpassed place of merit. Thus it is said. This quote is taken from the collection of sutras by the noble Nagarjuna. It is quoted in the commentary on the Uttaratantra by the noble Asanga. From the Mother Tantra Hevajra: First, give the Uposatha. Then give the ten precepts. From that, explain the Vaibhashika. After that, the Sutrantika. Then, the Yogachara. After that, explain the Madhyamaka. If you know all the stages of mantra, then explain the Hevajra. Thus it is said. In the Lankavatara Sutra it says: Relying on mind-only, do not conceptualize external objects. Relying on the absence of appearance, one should transcend mind-only. Relying on the true object, one should also transcend the absence of appearance. The yogi who abides in the absence of appearance does not see the Great Vehicle. Thus it is said. Gyaltsab Je also said: Having realized with intelligence that there is nothing other than mind, then realize that mind itself does not exist. The intelligent one, realizing that both do not exist, abides in the Dharmadhatu of non-abiding. Is it not teaching gradually, step by step, like this? The previous lamas also practiced in this way: wherever one is born in the three realms of samsara, in any of the six realms, they would say that it is only suffering, and then extensively teach the Dharma of scripture and reasoning. Abandon the ten non-virtues and practice the ten virtues. Especially, strive in refuge, the hundred-syllable mantra, mandala offerings, guru yoga, and so on. From these teachings, they made the continuum a suitable vessel. After that is empowerment, after that
