y searching and analyzing 'ra', the basis whose essence transcends all concepts should be established as the rootless, free from elaboration, awareness-emptiness, and free from coming and going state. Secondly, according to the internal classification: Visualize the seeds of the six realms of existence, which are inherently and naturally present in one's own body: A white A (A,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) at the crown of the head; su green and yellow at the throat; nri blue-green at the heart; tri red and black at the navel; pre red at the secret place; du, dud, and ka at the soles of the feet, clearly visualize them in accordance with the proper order. Contemplate that the imprints of the six realms of existence are gathered in these seeds, like smoke billowing from a coal pit. In the center of the body, visualize the three channels—the central channel, the left channel, and the right channel—instantly appearing clearly. Within the central channel at the heart center, there is a blue Hūṃ (Hūṃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hum,汉语字面意思:吽). In the right channel (Romena), there is a white Oṃ (Oṃ,梵文天城体:ओं,梵文罗马拟音:om,汉语字面意思:嗡). In the left channel (Kyangma), there is a red Āḥ (Āḥ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:ah,汉语字面意思:阿), all shining, radiant, and blazing with light as the essence of the three vajras. When reciting these three syllables seven hundred thousand times with a melodious voice, flames of wisdom fire blaze forth with a roaring sound, burning away all general impairments and obscurations of body, speech, and mind, and in particular, purifying the seeds and imprints of the six realms of existence into nothingness. At the end of the session, visualize the ashes of the burned seeds as a heap of black ash. By uttering PHAṬ, the ashes move from the crown of the head to the throat. By uttering PHAṬ again, they move down to the heart, and so on, in sequence. 58-2-6a Finally, upon uttering PHAṬ, imagine that the ashes at the soles of the feet are flung far away, completely severing all attachments to the object of focus, and naturally resting in the rootless state. The second part of the root text has two aspects. The first is: Relaxing and settling the weariness of body, speech, and mind caused by effort, naturally into the genuine state. Sit comfortably on a cushion, either in the lotus position or in any comfortable posture, without moving. Needless to say, do not speak. Let the breath flow naturally. Do not entertain any thoughts of good or bad, but rest without contrivance. Thus, the three doors will be purified on the ground, and natural meditation will arise. Maintaining this state without acceptance or rejection will lead to the accomplishment of peaceful abiding free from faults. The second is: Once the mind is relaxed and rests in a clear, non-conceptual state, redirect it to the correct path through causes such as objects of focus and views. This has two aspects: general and specific. The first is: Arrange the body in the seven-point posture, with eyes half-closed, gazing at the space in front of the tip of the nose. Let the breath flow naturally and slowly. The key point for the mind is that, 58-2-6b no matter how the six consciousnesses arise, do not cling to them, do not conceptualize." ] } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maintaining practice in a state of abiding is the view of the Shravakas. Alternatively, instead of that, gazing blankly into space, allowing awareness to arise in a flash, clear and unobstructed, and realizing that this itself is also devoid of inherent existence, the inseparability of appearance and emptiness, is the view of the Bodhisattvas. Without losing this state, rising and taking steps haphazardly, eyes darting around looking, uttering sounds like 'ha ha hi hi' and so on, and exerting awareness fully, thereby realizing that all appearances, conditions, and conceptual thoughts are like self-born, self-arisen waves dissolving into water, is the view of the Wrathful Deities. Thus, bringing awareness back to its original state through these three views is the intent of 'post-mortem guidance'. Second, in connection with a special object of focus: With the posture complete, visualize a golden vajra cross at the heart center, with a blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, meaning: subjugation) filling the center. Below the center of the vajra, clearly establish your own awareness as a white A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: ā, meaning: none) the size of a pea. Then, visualize the A radiating outwards, circling the Hūṃ above twenty to a hundred times or more. As the visualization becomes clear, pronounce Phaṭ (Tibetan: ཕཊ, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट, Sanskrit Romanization: phaṭ, meaning: cut), visualizing the A dissolving into non-objectification, and then relax and rest in the unmodified natural state of mind. Through this, 'seeking tenderness' or 'guidance' and so on can be accomplished simultaneously, and one will be able to steer the mind in any direction. The second part of the root text, the actual stages of practice, are threefold: Kadag Trekchö (Primordial Purity Cutting Through), Lhündrub Tögal (Spontaneous Perfection Leaping Over), and the introduction to their meaning. The first part has two aspects: maintaining the self-nature of base awareness, and driving in the peg of intent. The first is: 'Unstained by the defilements of mind, the self-arisen awareness in a flash, beyond the realm of directions and designations, possessing the essence of clear-empty awareness, appearing primordially without change, separate from grasper, grasped, and object.' Thus it is said, having perfected the uncommon preliminaries and established the foundation of Shamatha meditation free from faults, in order to generate the wisdom of Vipassanā, sit in the seven-point posture of Vairochana, like a mountain, and like an ocean, fix the eyes without moving, gazing steadily at the space about an arrow's length in front. Like a mountain, keep the mind free from any conceptual thoughts of the three times, abiding in the natural state of present awareness, clear and without grasping, without any fabrication, and maintain this continuously. In this way, the defilements of mind, even the subtle thoughts that cannot be distinguished, will be purified into the expanse. This unmade, self-arisen awareness in a flash is not just understanding, but the naked realization of the Dharmakaya, thereby cutting through to the root in unbornness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
