When it arises as form, just like meeting someone you knew before, there's no need for examination; it's naturally recognized in your mind. This is the recognition of appearances as mind. If you don't recognize thoughts as your own mind, then blocking them won't stop them, abandoning them won't discard them, and grasping them won't hold them. Even if you meditate for eons, you won't attain Buddhahood. Samsara and Nirvana both arise from the co-emergent ground. The momentary appearances arise from whether the mind is aware or unaware. Mistaking appearances as separate from the mind is delusion. Recognizing appearances as empty of inherent existence is the wisdom of awareness, realizing that appearances and mind are the same in Dharmata (the nature of reality). Secondly, the tantra says, 'Thoughts are the self-nature of mind; apart from mind, there is nothing in existence.' Therefore, the unobstructed manifestation of your own mind, which is unborn and empty, causes all phenomena to arise. When the self grasps itself, the appearances of the five poisons arise. The radiance of attachment and aversion to these forms the body of the five elements. From clinging to this, the five pure essences form the five energy channels with their five colors. Based on this, although the essence of awareness is one, the radiance of these channels causes the five sense perceptions of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch to arise. The radiance of desire radiates outward, stirring appearances, and thus sentient beings arise. Through clinging, the appearances of material objects with affirmation and negation proliferate. Not recognizing that all these are one's own mind, but grasping them as existing separately, the object of grasping becomes a bond, and one wanders in samsara. The tantra says, 'Apart from mind, there is no appearance.' Therefore, all these appearances are the objects of one's own mind; recognize this. Then, since all appearances reside in the mind, what is that mind, the master of all, like? Looking at itself, how did it first arise? In the middle, where is its form and color? In the end, where does it go? Looking, nothing is seen or found. It's not that it exists but is not seen; rather, because the mind is unborn, the place of origin cannot be found in this rootless ground. Because it is unlocalized, its form and color are not established anywhere in the ten directions. Because it is unceasing, there is nowhere to go. Recognize that it is free from the three characteristics of arising, abiding, and ceasing, like the sky. Thus, by realizing the essence of appearances and mind as free from the three characteristics of arising, abiding, and ceasing, the ultimate view is determined. Recognizing this as the Nirmanakaya (emanation body): one's own mind is single, yet six different appearances arise. As soon as they arise, they dissolve back into the mind. Then, from that, by focusing on a single thought of whatever you desire, like Buddha Shakyamuni, it immediately appears. This is the body of the path appearance, recognizing that self-appearance is mind. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, one gains control over birth and death. By practicing this skill, one ultimately attains the Nirmanakaya (emanation body) of a Buddha, appearing in whatever form is necessary to tame beings. Second, there are also two aspects to directly introducing the empty mind as the Sambhogakaya (enjoyment body): establishing emptiness and introducing the way things are on one thing. First, even if one recognizes appearances as mind, if one does not realize the emptiness of mind, one will cling to characteristics and not be able to be liberated. Therefore, establishing that very thing as empty involves: in a secluded place, maintaining the body posture and gaze as before. Through observation, one rests in the state of being free from arising, abiding, and ceasing, recognizing appearances as mind. There is nothing to fabricate with the intellect or meditate on with the mind. Without any sense of 'not just appearances,' one remains unwaveringly in that state. As a result, all appearances vanish without clinging, and one's own mind becomes clear, spacious, and fresh. At times, appearances arise suddenly like clouds rising in the sky, but by resting on that very thing, it is naturally liberated. If appearances arise in one's own mindstream and do not liberate, this is called 'suppressing appearances.' By focusing single-pointedly on whatever arises without distraction, just as walking on a mirage causes it to disappear, merely looking at thoughts causes them to become empty of inherent existence. Similarly, by focusing on all thoughts, they are liberated without inherent existence. Therefore, simply resting in the uncorrected state, like ice melting into water, the self-nature of mind does not exist as a concrete entity and is liberated into emptiness. If one grasps appearances as truly existent, one falls into eternalism; if one grasps them as non-existent, one falls into nihilism. Appearances are mind, and mind is emptiness. If it were not empty, it could not manifest in various forms. Knowing that the power of emptiness can manifest anything, all appearances of grasping and being grasped are liberated into emptiness itself. Thus, appearances arise without basis, root, or direction, and like a rainbow in the sky without support, they naturally liberate. Even if one knows appearances to be empty, it does not mean that there is nothing to arise. Even when appearances arise, knowing that their self-nature is empty is called the wisdom of realizing emptiness. In this way, once one realizes the meaning of emptiness, no matter how thoughts arise, just as wind aids a fire spreading through a forest, it further enhances the power of emptiness and becomes a support for generating certainty, transforming into a lamp that illuminates and expands experience. The second is: From the tantra, 'Though various things appear, the mind itself is liberated into emptiness.' This means that although various appearances occur externally, they arise from the mind, and nothing exists independently apart from the mind, so it is empty. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
