The oral instructions for the mandala: For the superior, draw the image of Thubpa (Shakyamuni) with the Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ) at his heart in the bindu at the center, along with all the retinue; for the intermediate, draw the image of Thubpa without the Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ) at his heart, with the Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ) in the center of the bindu for all the retinue; for the inferior, draw the Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ) in the bindu of Thubpa, and bindus without Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ) for the retinue. The Empowerment of the Ten Abodes of Thubpa: After performing the empowerment according to the ritual text, this is the supplication: O, Guru Thubwang (Shakyamuni) of the Ten Abodes, whatever virtues exist in the four continents of existence, gather them and offer the mandala. Oṃ! Guru Thubwang (Shakyamuni) of the Ten Abodes, with one-pointed devotion, I supplicate. Please grant me empowerment and bless me. I take refuge in the Three Jewels, I confess all sins and non-virtues, I rejoice in the virtues of beings, I hold the Bodhi of the Buddha in mind, I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and the Supreme Assembly, until enlightenment. To accomplish both my own and others' benefit, I generate the supreme Bodhicitta, having generated the supreme Bodhicitta, I invite all sentient beings as guests, I generate the supreme Bodhicitta, may I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of beings. At this point, cover the eyes, then place the activity vase on the crown of the head. Hūṃ! (ཧཱུྃ，hūṃ，seed syllable) This is the samaya of the body, this mandala should not be revealed to others. If you break the samaya and do not protect it, the thunderbolt of the sky will strike, and the senses of the body will be reduced to dust. If you protect the samaya, you will receive empowerment. Then, pour the samaya water into the mouth. Hūṃ! (ཧཱུྃ，hūṃ，seed syllable) This is the samaya of speech, this mandala should not be revealed to others. If you break the samaya and do not protect it, it will turn into the water of Hala, and the senses of speech will be reduced to dust. If you protect the samaya, you will receive empowerment. Then, place the vajra at the heart. Hūṃ! (ཧཱུྃ，hūṃ，seed syllable) This is the samaya of mind, this mandala should not be revealed to others. If you break the samaya and do not protect it, it will turn into an iron sin, and the senses of mind will be reduced to dust. If you protect the samaya, you will receive empowerment. Then, repeat this: O, having protected according to the Guru's command, if you do not transgress the samaya.
