Homage to the perfectly enlightened Buddha! The mantra is: Om Muni Muni Maha Munaye Svaha. Recite seven to twenty-one times, or as much as possible, the nine-syllable mantra of the pure lineage master: Om Muni Muni Maha Munaye Svaha. Focus on the karma vase and recite slightly. Then, guide the consciousness of the deceased: Place the corpse or image of the deceased in front. From emptiness, from the seed syllable 'Nri' (藏文：ནྲྀ), appears the deceased, just like in their lifetime, radiant and bright, holding an eight-petaled lotus flower, and seeking refuge in the masters and Three Jewels of the ten directions. Recite: I take refuge in the kind root and lineage-possessing glorious and precious masters! I take refuge in the true words of the Buddha! I take refuge in the true words of the Dharma! I take refuge in the true words of the Sangha! I take refuge in the true words of the deities of the mandala of Yidam! Especially, I take refuge in the true words of the thirty-five Buddhas of Confession! By the power of the purity of Dharma nature and the infallibility of karmic cause and effect, bring the deceased (name) from this world to the other shore, wherever they may be, whether underground, on the ground, in the sky, or at the top of the towering world, or in the lower hells, without any freedom, may they become inseparable from this image! Make fists with both hands, bend the middle and ring fingers, extend palms down, then turn them upwards, releasing the mudra, this is the mudra of summoning the fallen.
