The result of virtuous actions is happiness, and the result of non-virtuous actions is suffering. The ways in which good and bad karma mature are inconceivable, so one should adopt what is beneficial and abandon what is harmful. Whether an action is virtuous or non-virtuous, it is small at the time of the cause, but it grows and becomes large at the time of fruition. The greatest change is a hundredfold or a thousandfold increase. There is no measure for great changes, just like the growth of seeds such as barley. Therefore, if the karma you have accumulated is not destroyed by the power of remedies, it will not disappear until the fruit matures, so it is very important to be careful about what to adopt and abandon. Secondly, to think specifically: to think that non-virtue should be abandoned, to think that virtue should be cultivated, and to transform the unspecified into virtue. The first is: Non-virtuous karma is that which, by its very nature, is sinful no matter who practices it. It can arouse the three poisons, jealousy, stinginess, and so on, the root afflictions and near afflictions, and all misconduct. And all the non-virtuous actions of the three doors aroused by them, whoever takes the vows, if he violates them, it becomes sinful. Therefore, all the sufferings of samsara arise from non-virtuous karma. Although there are many kinds of non-virtue, if we summarize the importance of what to adopt and abandon into ten, as it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: 'From then on, it is briefly summarized into ten kinds, good and non-good as appropriate, which are said to be the paths of action.' Among them, the three actions of the body are: killing, that is, killing the object to be killed accurately and without error with the intention of killing, and the thought of killing does not stop until death. Taking what is not given, that is, taking or stealing other people's property without their permission, in any way, as long as the thought of taking it for oneself arises. Adultery, that is, having sexual relations with non-places (non-spouse), non-times, non-places, and non-ways. Non-places refer to: women owned by others, relatives within seven generations, prostitutes who have not paid, women guarded by parents or kings, and those who have taken vows of celibacy. Non-times refer to: those who are sick, mourning, pregnant, menstruating, and those who can never satisfy their sexual desires. Non-places refer to: stupas, temples, among many women, and uneven hard ground that can harm pedestrians. Non-ways refer to: relying on doors other than the genitals. These are for householders, but for those who practice celibacy, any behavior that does not conform to celibacy is adultery. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, what kind of behavior is considered sexual misconduct? Among the four verbal actions, lying is: changing perception with the intention to deceive, knowingly speaking untruths, and the other party understanding its meaning. This is not only a verbal action, but also bodily gestures can lead to the same result. Slander is: wanting to separate two discordant parties, speaking divisive words, and the other party understanding its meaning. Harsh speech is: directly hearing the faults of others and criticizing them, speaking words that hurt the other party's heart, and the other party understanding its meaning. Frivolous talk is: other words that are not the above three, such as chatting, singing, dancing, war, business, and love topics, as well as talking about heretical religions, etc. Among the three mental actions, covetousness is: having a strong desire to possess the homes, enjoyments, retinues, etc. of others. Harmful intent is: having a strong desire to harm others, hoping that they will suffer. Wrong view is: not believing in karma, past and future lives, and the Three Jewels, etc., and holding firmly to this belief. These ten actions are from the perspective of the completion of the path of action. For unintentional accidental killings and other situations similar to these ten actions, one should also strive to learn to abandon them. As it is said in the sutras: 'Greed, hatred, and ignorance, the actions arising from these are unwholesome.' Now, the results of these unwholesome actions are three: the result of maturation, the result of similarity, and the result of dominance. The first is the result of maturation: these unwholesome actions are divided into three types: large, medium, and small, according to the intensity of the motivation and other differences. Among them, the large ones lead to falling into hell, the medium ones lead to falling into the preta realm, and the small ones lead to falling into the animal realm, thus suffering the various sufferings mentioned earlier. The second is the result of experiencing similarity: killing leads to short life, stealing leads to scarcity of wealth, sexual misconduct leads to many enemies, lying leads to being slandered, slander leads to discord with friends, harsh speech leads to hearing unpleasant sounds, frivolous talk leads to speech lacking power, covetousness leads to desires not being fulfilled, harmful intent leads to generating fear, and wrong view leads to being foolish and confused. The result of behavioral similarity is: because one has done a certain action before, one will like to do the same action later. The third is the result of dominance: it will mature in the external environment, for example, killing leads to the weakening of the power of grains and medicines, stealing leads to poor harvests, and sexual misconduct leads to places being filled with dust and hail. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
