Seven days before, the suffering of death becomes intense and prolonged. At that time, one's own goddess and retinue also abandon oneself and go to other deities, which increases suffering and unease. In particular, although attached to the glory and desires of the gods, one knows that one will be separated uncontrollably. After death, being reborn as a god is only a possibility, and the chances of being reborn as a human are few. In most cases, one will be reborn in the lower realms, and must endure that unbearable suffering for a long time, knowing that one will fall into unbearable suffering. It is said in the 'Friendly Epistle': 'When falling from the realm of the gods, the great suffering that arises cannot be compared to even one-sixteenth of the suffering of hell beings.' Also, as it says in the 'Friendly Epistle': 'Even Indra (Śakra, Śakra, Lord of the Gods) who has become an object of worship for the world, will fall to the earth again due to karma. Even if one becomes a Chakravartin, one will become a slave again in samsara.' That's how it is. Furthermore, when seeing the enjoyment of the gods with great merit, the gods with little merit will feel depressed and inferior. The powerful gods will expel the weak gods from their abodes, especially the Four Great Kings and the Thirty-three Gods, who fight and quarrel with the Asuras, and suffer intense pain from their bodies being cut, slashed, and killed by swords. Second, contemplating the suffering of the upper realms: In the Form and Formless realms, although there is no manifest suffering of suffering, one still cannot escape the nature of the suffering of conditioning. Because of being intoxicated by samadhi, ordinary beings cannot improve their merits. Having tasted the taste of samadhi, they cannot escape their attachment to the taste of samadhi. Therefore, they will die from losing their samadhi. In particular, the ordinary beings who dwell there will take rebirth in the desire realm again when their past karma is exhausted. Having previously relied on worldly samadhi, although they feel comfortable in samadhi, it is unreliable, like an arrow shot into the sky, when the force of conditioned happiness is exhausted, they will fall into the lower realms again. It is said in the 'Friendly Epistle': 'Even after obtaining the great happiness of the heavenly realms and the desireless happiness of Brahma, one will eventually become fuel for the fire of Avici hell, suffering continuous pain.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As it is said. Therefore, no matter how big or small the fire is, it does not exceed the nature of heat. Similarly, no matter where one is born in the three realms of samsara, whether high or low, it does not exceed the nature of suffering. Wherever one stays, it is a place of suffering; whoever one associates with, is a friend of suffering; whatever one enjoys, it does not exceed the enjoyment of suffering. As it says in the Uttaratantra: 'Just as there is no fragrance in impure things, there is no happiness in the five realms of existence. Its suffering is always immeasurable, like the suffering arising from the touch of sea salt and so on.' It should be understood as such. Third, contemplating the nature of the three sufferings: In general, suffering in samsara has two aspects: cause and effect. The first is: gods and humans, with perfect retinues and enjoyments, but controlled by unwholesome thoughts, using actions for sinful deeds. The second is: the three lower realms, and the impoverished in the higher realms, bodies afflicted with illness, and minds filled with sorrow, and so on. These sufferings, in summary, are of three types: the suffering of suffering, the suffering of change, and the pervasive suffering of conditioning. The first is: for example, like applying poison to a wound, all painful sensations such as heat, cold, hunger, and thirst, mainly exist in the three lower realms. The second is: for example, like relying on fire when it is cold, life and enjoyments, even up to the bliss of meditative absorption, all pleasant sensations, mainly exist in humans and desire realm gods. The third is: for example, like a person with thirst drinking salty water, the basis of these two sufferings is the aggregates of conditioning, just the aggregates of taking is the source of all suffering, from which all sufferings such as birth and aging arise sequentially. When it only possesses neutral feeling, it only has the name of the pervasive suffering of conditioning, mainly existing in the four meditative absorptions. Therefore, the sutra says: 'Whatever feeling there is, all of it is suffering.' This is also what it means. If one cannot be liberated from this, one cannot be liberated from the other two, just as cutting the leaves of a tree is not enough if the root of the tree is not cut. Fourth, contemplating the law of cause and effect: contemplating the general aspect of the law of cause and effect, contemplating the specific aspect, summarizing with the Four Noble Truths. First, the general aspect: The sutra says: 'The actions of sentient beings will not be wasted even for hundreds of kalpas. When the accumulation and time are ripe, it will naturally ripen into fruition.' Therefore, virtuous actions --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
