They considered it not to be the New School, but spoke of it in terms of its main aspects. The explanation is: ༄། །About the New School: If it is the case of the New School, then among the New and Old Schools, here it refers to the New School. Moreover, in the Vajra Tent it says: 'For the sake of taming beings, the Yoga Father Tantra is taught; for the sake of pleasing the consorts, later the Yoga Mother Tantra is spoken.' And in the Manjushri Illusion Net it says: 'Non-duality is shown as non-dual.' Thus there are three: the skillful means Father Tantra, the wisdom Mother Tantra, and the non-dual Essence Meaning Tantra. The differences between these are: in the mandala, if the forms of male deities are many, and there are silk, precious jewels, and other ornaments, and the mantra rituals of the Father Tantra deity are mainly performed, then that is the Father Tantra; if the forms of female deities are many, and they are naked, with bone ornaments, etc., and the mantra rituals of the Mother Tantra deity, etc., are mainly performed, then that is the Mother Tantra. Also, extensively showing the suchness of skillful means is the Father Tantra, profoundly showing the suchness of wisdom is the Mother Tantra, and if these are shown equally, then that is non-dual. 'Although it is said like this, the main point is that, in the unsurpassed yoga tantra, whichever of the uncommon practices of the upper three empowerments is emphasized and practiced, it is established accordingly, and this seems to be the best. Therefore, as mentioned above, the Father Tantra mainly shows the yoga of the channels and winds on the path of the secret empowerment; the Mother Tantra mainly shows the yoga of union of bliss and emptiness through the lower gate on the path of wisdom and consort; and the Non-Dual Tantra mainly shows the yoga of Mahamudra and Dzogchen on the path of the fourth empowerment. The examples of these three are: the Father Tantras include the Guhyasamaja, Rakta Yamari, and Vajrabhairava; the Mother Tantras include the Samputa, Chakrasamvara, and Mahamaya; and the Non-Dual Tantras include the Kalachakra. The great adept Sakya school considers the Hevajra Tantra to be a Non-Dual Tantra as well. Jomden Raldi said: 'From the Vajra Tent, fourteen Mother Tantras are quoted, and the Yoga Mother Tantra is the Hevajra.' etc., because of these obstacles, it is reasonable to consider it a Mother Tantra. As an example of the Father Tantra, such as the Guhyasamaja, in the Lamp Illuminating it says: 'The eighty-four thousand collections of teachings spoken by the Great Sage, the glorious Guhyasamaja is its container, therefore it is the pinnacle of all tantras.' Like this, each praises the mandala of the glorious Guhyasamaja as the container and root of the sutras and tantras. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘Around’ means to be able to distinguish the categories of all lineages of Father Tantra, Mother Tantra, and Non-Dual Tantra, and to be able to distinguish between the generation stage and completion stage of these lineages as appropriate. Furthermore, although it contains the meaning of the four empowerments, it is not an actual empowerment ritual, but refers to situations where the ritual sequence is very simple and is called ‘blessing’. Similarly, one should know how to flexibly transform blessings, subsequent permissions of body, speech, and mind, etc., according to the specific situation. About the Ancient Secret Mantra (Nyingma): If it is about the Ancient Secret Mantra (Nyingma), it is mainly spoken from the perspective of the main points. Following ‘it is said’, among the new and old schools, the Ancient Secret Mantra (Nyingma) is particularly superior here. So, by what is it superior? The great translator Rongzom Chokyi Zangpo said: ‘For the Ancient Secret Mantra (Nyingma), there are six advantages that surpass the new school.’ First, the greatness of the patrons (benefactors) is that the patrons of the early translations were the three protectors, the noble Avalokiteśvara, Mañjuśrī, and Vajrapāṇi, who appeared as kings, and were the three ancestral kings and their descendants, so they are different from the patrons of the later translations. Second, the greatness of the places where the scriptures were translated and established is that in the early days, they were in the emanation temples such as Samye Monastery and other upper and lower Dharma wheels, so it is different from the current situation of translating in Phagphuk Monastery. Third, the greatness of the translators is that the early translators were the translator Vairotsana, Ka, Jok, and Zhang, and the emanation translators such as Ma and Nyak translated the Dharma. It is different from the current translators who live in Mangyul in the summer and occasionally go to Nepal and India in the winter to translate. Fourth, the greatness of the paṇḍitas is that the early paṇḍitas were the Dharma of the Buddha and the noble beings residing on the great earth, such as Khenpo Shantarakshita, Sangye Sangwa, Guru Padmasambhava, and Paṇḍita Vimalamitra. It is different from the current paṇḍitas who wander around looking for gold. Fifth, the greatness of the offering (flowers) for requesting translation is that in the early days, the Dharma was offered by filling a container of Shawa with gold, or by measuring it with a dou. It is different from the current situation where one or two gold coins are taken out of the sleeve to request translation. Sixth, the greatness of the Dharma is that in the early days, it was translated when the teachings of Buddhism in India had not yet declined, and moreover, the tantras that were not in India were held by Bodhisattvas, siddhas, vidyadharas, and dakinis who had received empowerment, and resided in pure lands, and the Dharma possessed by parts of Jambudvipa, such as the country of lions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
