Finally, with the power of devotion, visualize the lineage lamas gradually merging from top to bottom into the root guru. Visualize the root guru's body blazing with light, regarding me with compassion and bestowing blessings, and recite the Seven-Line Prayer: 'Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Todtrengtsal Vajra Samaya Dza Siddhi Pala Hum Ah; Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum.' Without letting the mind wander, generate the force of devotion and recite as much as possible, such as a hundred times. As it is said in the Root Tantra of the Gathering of Vidyadharas: 'During the approach, meditate on the lama on the crown of the head. In the manner of supplication, recite this mantra.' This is also the essence of the instruction. Then, visualize that from the Om (Tibetan: ཨོཾ,Sanskrit Devanagari: ओ,Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ,Literal Meaning: Om) at the guru's forehead, a ray of light like molten moonlight emerges and dissolves into your own forehead, receiving the vase empowerment, purifying the obscurations of the body, subduing the eighth bhumi, the Immovable, and becoming capable of attaining the Nirmanakaya (emanation body) as a result. On the path, you become empowered to meditate on the yoga of the generation stage, Mahayoga. Visualize that from the Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ,Sanskrit Devanagari: आ,Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ,Literal Meaning: Ah) at the guru's throat, a ray of light like the tip of a flame emerges and dissolves into your own throat, receiving the secret empowerment, purifying the obscurations of speech, subduing the ninth bhumi, Good Intelligence, and becoming capable of attaining the Sambhogakaya (enjoyment body) as a result. On the path, you become empowered to meditate on the yoga of the completion stage, Anuyoga, that is, self-blessing. Visualize that from the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ,Sanskrit Devanagari: हु,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,Literal Meaning: Hum) at the guru's heart, a ray of light like the smoke of incense emerges and dissolves into your own heart, receiving the empowerment of wisdom and jñana, purifying the obscurations of mind, subduing the tenth bhumi, Cloud of Dharma, and becoming capable of attaining the Dharmakaya (truth body) as a result. On the path, you become empowered to meditate on Atiyoga, that is, the mandala wheel. Visualize that from the five places of the guru's body, rays of five-colored light emerge like a rainbow appearing from the sky and dissolve into your own five places, receiving the fourth great wisdom empowerment, purifying the obscurations of the three doors, and becoming capable of attaining the eleventh bhumi, All-Illuminating, and the Svabhavikakaya (essence body) as a result. On the path, you become empowered to meditate on Atiyangzang Dorje Nyingpo Dzogchen, the meaning of effortless spontaneity, the jñana of Kadak Lhundrup. Then, visualize the guru descending from your own Brahma aperture and residing in the center of the eight-petaled lotus of your heart, with a stream of nectar flowing from his body, filling your body completely. Finally, visualize the guru also dissolving into the light of the nature of great bliss, and your own body, speech, and mind becoming inseparable from the guru's three kayas, becoming of one taste, a single bindu, and abide in the empty clarity of awareness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
