At the end of the hundred-syllable mantra, addཨགྣི་ཛྭ་ལ་རཾ་(agni dzwa la ram)(藏文,अग्निज्वाला रं,agnijvala ram, fire, flame, raṃ)to transform the impure aggregates into pure ones. Sometimes, this rite of placement is also used to purify obscurations for the living. Generally, for the living, merely placing the target in the mandala and bestowing empowerment is the essence of purification at that time, and this will accomplish it. However, if one wishes to combine it with the rite of placement, then for a target that is nearby, one should abandon the generation of the deity and the summoning of consciousness. From then on, from dispelling obstacles to teaching the purification of the path, change 'the deceased' to 'the fortunate one,' and the other constraints of the rite can be understood from the previous instructions. As a substitute for burning the effigy, visualize the hair, nails, etc., of the target as the aggregates of the ripening of sins and obscurations, and perform the burning purification. If the target is located elsewhere, then the arrangement of the effigy, the generation, the summoning, and finally the burning, etc., should be done as just described. Some may think that this is not proper. If so, then wouldn't the countless activities of subjugation, such as summoning consciousness into the enemy's linga(लिंग,liṅga,symbol)and performing separation, etc., which the Victorious Ones (Buddhas) have spoken of in the tantras, be meaningless? Because it would not cause harm to the support of the living. If it does cause harm, then here, what certainty is there that the rites of benefit, such as visualizing the target as the living person themselves and their support, summoning consciousness, purifying sins and obscurations, and bestowing empowerment, etc., will not bring benefit? Because the Buddhas have taught that the results of thoughts and methods of benefit and harm are interconnected. Therefore, one should not criticize those who perform such rites, because arguments that contradict the Dharma are not allowed. Moreover, many rites of living effigies also come from the profound treasures of the Great Master of Oddiyana (Padmasambhava). ༈ །(om)(seed syllable,唵,oṃ,perfection) ༄། །(om)(seed syllable,唵,oṃ,perfection) Next, explaining the other branches of the ritual, namely the ritual of fire offering. Second, the ritual of fire offering: In the place where it is to be performed, offer a torma(གཏོར་མ,torma, food offering)to the earth deity and give the command. Place the right hand, together with the vajra(རྡོ་རྗེ,dorje, vajra, diamond scepter), on the ground, bless it by reciting the hundred-syllable mantra(ཡིག་བརྒྱ,yik gya, vajrasattva mantra,Vajrasattva's mantra)a hundred times, and then expand it into emptiness. On the square stove platform, smear cow dung, and draw the lines of Brahma's corner on the drawn stove. One cubit in length, with a spout and edges of four fingers each. Inside, an eight-petaled lotus surrounded by a garland of vajras of equal parts, marked with a vajra in the center. The outer four corners are decorated with crescent vajras. All colors... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anoint the altar with completely pure five nectars and fragrances. Arrange white flowers. Pile up fragrant wood without thorns and animals in an appropriate manner. On the left side of the Acharya (teacher), near the fire pit, arrange the offerings and combustibles in two layers according to the order. In front, place containers filled with fragrant water, and arrange the various offerings. The Acharya, adorned in white clothing and precious jewels, sits comfortably on a cushion facing east. When formally beginning the ritual, hold the vajra bell, recite the mantra, and remember the Samaya (vows). Bless the offerings as before. Sprinkle nectar on the combustibles. Touch the combustibles with the one-pointed vajra mudra, and recite 'Oṃ Svāhā' to purify the items. Recite 'Oṃ Āḥ Svāhā' for the poplar wood. Recite 'Oṃ Śrīṃ Svāhā' for the clarified butter. Recite 'Oṃ Jriṃ Svāhā' for the grains. Recite 'Oṃ Kuru Kuru Svāhā' for the other items. From emptiness, all items manifest as the first letter of their respective names and adorned with bindu, transforming into the nature of wisdom nectar, clearly appearing as the form of each combustible. Bless by reciting the seed syllables and item mantras three times each. Recite 'Oṃ Agni Jvala Raṃ', and place the smokeless burning fire clockwise into the fire pit. Recite 'Hūṃ' and fan the flames with a fan. Recite 'Oṃ Agni Svāhā', and offer by dripping clarified butter with a ladle. Recite 'Oṃ Vajrasattva Āḥ' and recite the mantra for the Kusha grass: 'Oṃ. This Kusha grass is pure and auspicious. It is the purifier of Brahma and the gods. It pleases the Three Jewels. Born from the earth, the heart of the lotus. I pray that it pacifies all my obstacles and brings auspiciousness. Svāhā.' Place the Kusha grass clockwise, starting from the left side of the fire pit. Purify the fire pit. From emptiness, from the syllable 'Hūṃ' appears a peaceful fire pit, round and white, possessing all characteristics, with a lotus and moon disc in the center, upon which is the syllable 'Raṃ', manifesting as the peaceful fire god, white, with one face and four arms. The right hands hold a staff and a rosary, respectively, and the left hands hold a pill and the gesture of granting refuge. Having the attire of an ascetic, surrounded by many attendants. Bless the three places (body, speech, and mind). Visualize the light rays of the syllable 'Hūṃ' inviting the wisdom being. Recite: 'Oṃ. Come, come, great being! King of the fire gods, great ascetic! In order to enjoy the burnt offerings and food, I pray that you come to this burning place! Oṃ Agnaye Ākarṣaya Jaḥ.' Invite the wisdom being. Expel the outer obstacles with the activity mantra. Recite 'Oṃ Agni Deva Sapariwara Argham Pratīccha Svāhā'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
