Pacify this place! Surround with alcohol and barley beer, and subdue with four Hūṃs (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་བཞི་པ་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Chinese literal meaning: fourfold Hūṃ) and three and a half (mantras). After stating the truthful oath as before, may all the obstructing demons that hinder the deceased from passing on, hinder the life of the living, and hinder the purification of sins of the dead, be satisfied with this letter-shaped torma (Tibetan: ཡི་གེ་གཏོར་མ་) in my heart, and may they go far beyond a yojana (Sanskrit: yojana)! 'If you do not leave, may your head be split into a hundred pieces by the blazing vajra of wisdom!' Thus say, and fumigate with guggul incense, scatter mustard seeds, recite fierce mantras, and with loud musical sounds, throw the torma far away; this is purification with force. Fourth, purifying sins: Arrange sesame seeds and lamp water in front of the mandala. Visualize all the sins of the deceased, transforming into the form of black karma (Tibetan: ཀཾ་ནག་པོ), flowing out from the nostrils, transforming into the form of sins, and dissolving into the sesame seeds. Throw the sesame seeds into the flames on the left and right, then throw them into the water, and recite: Oṃ, sarva, pāpaṃ, dahana, bhasmiṃ, kuru, ye, svāhā! (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སརྦ་པཱ་པཾ་ད་ཧ་ན་བྷསྨིཾ་ཀུ་རུ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ sarva pāpaṃ dahana bhasmiṃ kuru ye svāhā, Chinese literal meaning: Oṃ, burn all sins, make them ashes, do this, svāhā!) Visualize all sins being purified by the fire of wisdom. Then, scatter sand and mustard seeds while reciting purification mantras, and recite the Hundred Syllable Mantra, as well as: Oṃ, daha, daha, sarva, naraka, gate, hetuṃ, hūṃ, phaṭ! (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ད་ཧ་ད་ཧ་སརྦ་ན་ར་ཀ་ག་ཏེ་ཧེ་ཏུཾ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ daha daha sarva naraka gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Oṃ, burn, burn, all hell realms, cause, hūṃ, phaṭ!), Oṃ, paca, paca, sarva, preta, gate, hetuṃ, hūṃ, phaṭ! (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་པ་ཙ་པ་ཙ་སརྦ་པྲེ་ཏ་ཀ་ག་ཏེ་ཧེ་ཏུཾ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ paca paca sarva preta gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Oṃ, cook, cook, all hungry ghost realms, cause, hūṃ, phaṭ!), Oṃ, matha, matha, sarva, tiryak, gate, hetuṃ, hūṃ, phaṭ! (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་མ་ཐ་མ་ཐ་སརྦ་ཏིཪྻ་ཀ་ག་ཏེ་ཧེ་ཏུཾ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ matha matha sarva tiryak gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Oṃ, churn, churn, all animal realms, cause, hūṃ, phaṭ!) etc., and recite many mantras for purifying the lower realms, visualizing all sins being purified like frost melting in the sun. Fifth, bathing: First, bathe the mirror in which the images of the mandala and other sacred objects appear, and recite verses such as 'As the Tathagata was born,' as well as: The body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas, are without the stain of afflictions, in order to purify the three doors of the deceased, bathe with pure water. Oṃ, sarva, tathāgata, abhiṣeka, ta, samaya, śrī, ye, hūṃ! (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་ཨ་བྷི་ཥེ་ཀ་ཏ་ས་མ་ཡ་ཤྲཱི་ཡེ་ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ sarva tathāgata abhiṣeka ta samaya śrī ye hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Oṃ, all Tathagatas, consecration, samaya, auspiciousness, ye, hūṃ!) And: With incomparable fine clothes, smeared with pure and fragrant scents, wipe the sacred image. Oṃ, hūṃ, trāṃ, hrīḥ, āḥ, kāya, biśodhana, svāhā! Pour the bathwater used to wipe the sacred image back into the vase, and use this water to wash nameplates and other sacred objects, and recite: Pure and immaculate water of the heavens, delightful and fragrant source of the Ganges, with the water of the mudra wisdom vase, may the obscurations of the deceased be purified. And recite the Hundred Syllable Mantra while washing. Furthermore, this is the water of the nature of generosity, which purifies the stain of stinginess, water mixed with the fragrance of giving, bathe with excellent bathing. Thus, in the place of generosity, morality, patience... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
