For the timing of incision, perform a major cleaning on the fifth, seventh, and ninth days. On the eleventh, thirteenth, and fifteenth days, incise the edema. On the seventeenth, nineteenth, and twenty-first days, incise the pus in hidden areas. There is no timing for incision for bruises and blood vessel damage. The hidden target, unchanging, possessing six signs, can be incised. The method of incision, choose auspicious stars, dates, and morning hours. The body should lie flat on a flat cushion, or sit cross-legged. Have a servant of similar age support and cover the ears. Use a hollow needle like a bird's beak (with a finger's width at the tip, a white hole on the side of the neck, a white hole in the middle of the hollow needle, which can pass through smoothly, and a sharp tip) to pierce the hidden area. Do not cross the ends of the handle, strike straight. Feel with your hand whether the skin, flesh, and bone have been penetrated. Hold the hollow needle and do not let the skin separate. Finally, if the pus spurts out like a water column, stop. First clean with butter, then clean with oil. The nature of the pus, white, soft, and odorless, is easy to treat. If it is like rotten meat, ashes, with a foul smell, with blood streaks, or like rotten meat soup, or like saltwater burned by the sun, it is a sign of death. Plugs and wound instruments should be used in sequence. After removing the hollow needle, insert a flat old plug. Then fumigate it several times with Asaba. Afterwards, cover with felt before the pus is exhausted. Alternate between tight plugs and small plugs. Wrap with wheat leaves, alkaline water, musk, and rue. Finally, use a lead-made peculiar plug.
