Pus-filled pimples appear in the sputum from coughing. Dryness does not cause thirst, diarrhea, and sores around the anus. When cold fever breaks out, the pulse is gentle, the face is pale, the appetite is good, the tongue is moist, there is little thirst, the body feels cold, there is trembling, and no chills. Breathing is easy, there is little sleep during the day and good sleep at night, slight pain, no delirium, no sores in the private parts, little coughing, clear sputum, and the body feels light. At this time, there is no need to differentiate; dryness causes thirst. When the condition is mild, the serous fluid may contain blood. Therefore, bloodletting can alleviate it, and drying is key. When bleeding is severe, it is important to grasp the essentials. If the serous sac is not treated in time during bleeding, it will turn into simple serous fluid after seven days. At this time, bloodletting is difficult to alleviate, and drying is also difficult. Therefore, when the condition is mild, treatment should be administered separately in three stages. When the condition is severe, the serous sac should be treated during bleeding. There are four methods for drying serous fluid: diet, behavior, medicine, and treatment. In terms of diet, during the Brahmin period, aged goat meat and fresh beef should be added. When the constitution is weak, use a paste of three sweets to nourish the body. In terms of behavior, avoid strenuous exercise, loud talking, coughing, vomiting, and straining during bowel movements, etc. All strenuous activities that cause the pulse to quicken should be avoided as if obeying the law. Medicinal drying is divided into general and specific. General includes three types: powder, paste, and medicinal oil. Powder is used during bleeding, and paste is used for drying during simple serous fluid. If it becomes purulent, then medicinal oil is suitable. There are three types of powder formulations.
