Classification includes the types of serous fluid and the gate of entry. The types are two: white and black serous fluid. White serous fluid combines with phlegm, wind, and cold. Black serous fluid combines with blood, bile, and heat. The gate of entry includes spreading through the skin texture, running in the vessels, adhering to the bones, descending into the organs, and falling into the containers. Its symptoms are of two kinds: general and specific. General symptoms include itching, and the appearance of flat rashes. Sometimes the whole body swells and becomes edematous. The muscle color is bluish and rough, and pimples appear. Touching the skin with bran causes itching. Hair and eyebrows fall out. Specifically, white serous fluid has cold pulse and fluids. It increases in cloudy, humid weather, when soaking in water, or when exposed to cold. It appears comfortable after the body warms up, after eating warm nutrients. Black serous fluid causes heat in the pulse and fluids. It increases when warming by the fire, drinking alcohol, and in the autumn season. The characteristic of serous fluid spreading in the skin texture is that it causes itching. Many small rashes appear, and when scratched, serous fluid oozes out. The skin color is bluish, rough, hard, and many small worms appear. If it spreads in the muscles, it causes swelling and ulcers in the calves. All the muscles tremble and swell.
