Eating together, If the previous meal is not digested and the next is eaten, the food will be incompatible and cause conflict. If you are not used to it and eat at the wrong time, it will turn into poison. After exertion, one should consume oily foods, and when the body is hot, one should restrain oneself. If one is strong and used to eating, it will not cause harm. If one wants to consume or abandon incompatible foods, one should learn gradually through familiarity and habit. Suddenly abandoning or consuming them will quickly aggravate ailments. Because harmful things are close to harmful nature, wise people should abandon things that are not beneficial but harmful. Thus it was said. From the Secret Oral Instruction Tantra of the Eight Branches of the Essence of Ambrosia, the chapter on food 25-60 restraint, the seventeenth, is complete. The eighteenth chapter: the chapter on guarding food and eating in moderation. Then again, the wise sage with knowledge said this: O great sage, listen! At all times, eat in moderation. The lightness and heaviness of foods should be measured, light foods should be eaten to fullness, and heavy foods should be eaten to about half-fullness. Easy to digest is called moderation, this is what nourishes the body and generates heat. If one does not eat in moderation and eats too little, strength and complexion will not increase, and all wind diseases will arise. If one eats too much, indigestion and phlegm will arise, which will block the channels of fire and wind, reduce stomach heat, and cause all diseases. Therefore, food should be combined with stomach heat, two parts of the stomach should be filled with food, one part should be left empty, and one-fourth should be left for the air to reside. After eating, drinking water will satisfy and spread, food will rot and digest, the body will become strong, and strength will increase. However, if there is hoarseness, lung abscess, phlegm, colds, and even asthma, it is harmful to diseases. Those with weak stomach heat should eat meat and drink alcohol, if indigestion and bloating occur, drink boiled water after eating. If a thin person wants to gain weight, they should drink alcohol, if an obese person wants to lose weight, they should drink honey water. After eating yogurt, alcohol, poison, or honey, it is beneficial to drink cold water afterward. If one drinks water before, during, and after eating, the absorption of nutrients will be moderate, and one will become either fat or thin. Diseases will not go the wrong way, stomach heat will be blazing, the body will be light, the mind will be comfortable, the senses will be clear, strength will be great, and bowel movements, urination, and passing gas will be smooth, all of which arise from eating in moderation. Thus it was said. From the Secret Oral Instruction Tantra of the Eight Branches of the Essence of Ambrosia, the chapter on food

The eighteenth chapter, on protecting the land and eating food in moderation. The nineteenth chapter, explaining taste and aftertaste. Then, the Rishi Yileh Kye again asked: O Teacher Rishi, wisdom of innate knowledge, how should one learn the subject of medicinal formulations? Please explain, O nurturing king of medicine. After asking this, the Teacher said: O great Rishi, listen! To learn the subject of medicinal formulations, which are the antidotes to cure diseases, there are four aspects: taste, aftertaste, potency, and methods of combination. First, taste has five bases, divisions, entities, categories, functions, and aspects. The bases arise and change from the five elements: earth is the foundation, water is moisture, fire is heat, wind is movement, and space opens up the space. Although they arise from these, most are not a single taste. Earth-water-fire, earth-water-fire, water and wind, fire-wind, earth-wind, these two produce six tastes. Earth medicines are heavy, stable, dull, smooth, oily, and dry, hard, firm, and astringent, eliminating wind diseases. Water medicines are thin, cool, heavy, dull, oily, and soft, moist, gentle, and astringent, eliminating bile diseases. Fire medicines are hot, sharp, dry, rough, light, and oily, generating warmth, ripening, and coloring, eliminating phlegm diseases. Wind medicines are light, mobile, cold, rough, gray, and dry, hard, moving, and spreading, eliminating phlegm and bile. Space is generally pervasive in the medicines of the four elements, opening up the empty and vast space, eliminating combined diseases. Therefore, due to the power of combining with things, there is nothing on earth that is not medicine. Medicines that ascend are fire and wind, while those that descend arise from earth and water. Purgatives mostly arise from the initial taste. The tastes are sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent. In order, they are nourishing and powerful. The entity is clear on the tongue, hence it is called taste. When the sweet taste is experienced, it clings to the mouth, and craving arises because of its deliciousness. Sourness makes the teeth tingle, astringes, and causes saliva to flow. Saltiness feels hot upon contact and gathers saliva. Bitterness purifies the breath of the mouth and suppresses appetite. Pungency burns the mouth and tongue and causes tears to flow. Astringency clings to the tongue and palate and feels rough. The categories of medicines for each of the six tastes are explained separately. Woody sweets include grapes, saffron, turmeric, and, Dongala, Lanie, near
