Although it is said that occupying and protecting this place was of little benefit, it is known as a lineage of scholars to the students. Before that, from the year of the Iron Female Bird (in the Tibetan calendar) when the Dharma was destroyed, until the year of the Earth Female Bird (in the Tibetan calendar) when the embers of the teachings were revived, for one hundred and nine years, there was no name of a bhikshu in the four Rus of U-Tsang (the U-Tsang region). Some royal chronicles and most histories say that ten or six scholars from U-Tsang went to Kham, requested the great lama Gongpa Rabsel (དགོངས་པ་རབ་གསལ།) as their Khenpo and took vows, etc. Also, in the lineage of Khenpos of the Vinaya, many similar things are said, and it is very famous. However, it is very wrong and incorrect to propagate oral transmissions that cannot be traced to their source as casual statements. It is very correct to inquire as it is recorded in the book written by the great translator Lume (ཀླུ་མེས་ཆེན་པོ།): there are twelve scholars from U-Tsang. If asked how, it is the first seven and the last five, totaling twelve. The first seven are Lume Tsultrim Sherab (ཀླུ་མེས་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཤེས་རབ།), Drung Yeshe Yontan (འབྲིང་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཡོན་ཏན།), Tsongke Sherab Senge (ཚོང་ཁེ་ཤེས་རབ་སེང་གེ།), Loton Dorje Wangchuk (ལོ་སྟོན་རྡོ་རྗེ་དབང་ཕྱུག), Sumpa Yeshe Lodro (སུམ་པ་ཡེ་ཤེས་བློ་གྲོས།), Gya Lodro Sherab (རྒྱ་བློ་གྲོས་ཤེས་རབ།), and Zhonben Chokchok (གཞོན་བན་ཆོས་མཆོག་), etc., these seven requested Drumpa Acharya Yeshe Gyaltsen (གྲུམ་ཨཱ་ཙཱཪྻ་ཡེ་ཤེས་རྒྱལ་མཚན་) as their Khenpo, and Jokro Sherab Jangchub (ཅོག་རོ་ཤེས་རབ་བྱང་ཆུབ་) as their Acharya, and received their kindness. The first five took the vows of a bhikshu, and the last two took the vows of a upasaka. After that, the five who were thoroughly proficient were Tagzhi Gyalpak (མཐའ་བཞི་རྒྱལ་འཕགས།), Rakshi Tsultrim Jungne (རག་ཤི་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་འབྱུང་གནས།), Batun Lodro Wangchuk (སྦ་བཙུན་བློ་གྲོས་དབང་ཕྱུག་), Kyewo Nyangben Chokgyap (སྐྱེ་བོ་མྱང་འབན་ཆོས་སྐྱབས།), and Drub Sherab Monlam (གྲུབ་ཤེས་རབ་སྨོན་ལམ་). Moreover, the former went up to U-Tsang, and the latter went down, and they met on the road and asked where they were going. They replied that they were going to Domé (མདོ་སྨད།) to take vows. The journey is very long and difficult to endure. We have already received those precepts well, we have completed them. They did not listen to the advice to return. Then, please accept our Khenpo, who is both wise and virtuous. They did the same, and received the kindness of Drumpa Yeshe Gyaltsen. Among them, Ba, Rak, and Tagzhi took the vows of a bhikshu, and Nyang and Drumpa took the vows of a upasaka. Drumpa later took the full vows, but he diligently practiced meditation and did not develop a sangha. Therefore, slightly

Nga ba na Trungpa Chökyab, Gyaton Senge, and Kalmon Bar also went and took vows. Although they studied and contemplated, they diligently practiced meditation, so the monastic community grew. Below all of these, the one called Machö's Bodhicitta reached Kham, and as they went upwards, the monastic communities of Kyishö's Matso arose. When the previous ones went upwards, the two Khenpos said, "The five of you establish a monastic community in Ü. You, Lume, with good lineage, become the Khenpo," and they also gave robes. You, the clever merchant Khe, expound the Vinaya. Loton Chökyong, with attachment, protect the teachings. You, Drungpo, with deep and good doors, become the Sthavira. Sumpa, with weak doors, become Lume's attendant." Having said this, they went upwards and stayed in Mor Ge for one year temporarily. Then, according to the Khenpos' words, they separated. In Tsang, there appeared Lo and Tsong, and in Ü, there appeared Lu and Drung. Pa and Rag also went upwards and established a monastic community together. Thus, they were widely known as the six powerful individuals of Ü-Tsang. Among them, the two Tsangpas went to Tsang. Merchant Khe took Tri and Jagyu in Nyangme. Then in Nyangtö Khule, Nyingro, Jangro, and Göyul Tösum, etc., Gyapo and Changchung established many monastic communities. His two disciples, along with Ngurmig of Rong, Tsemar, and Gutang, even in Yagtsun, laid the foundation for forty monastic communities and residences in one day. Afterwards, they expanded and separated widely, and were known as the Merchant Tsho monastic community. When Loton Dorje Wangchuk laid the foundation for the monastery of Gyangong in Nyangme, the four white-clad sisters made small offerings and came in person, saying, "We will help you with our small power, and let the Buddha's teachings spread like fire spreading on dry wood." Afterwards, Loton expanded the scope of the residence, and a voice came from the sky, "This great person is an emanation of the Tathagata Great Eye Lord of the East, and even if you do not use us, we will help you." It became widely known. Afterwards, eight Khenpo disciples appeared, Sumton Pag.
