Just as preventing the mere appearance of a sight from the collection called "doing," it is not explained in detail here. Regarding the explanation of the Noble Eightfold Path, it is divided into two parts: the actual and the implied meaning. In the first part, identifying the nature of the Noble Eightfold Path: Right View, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration, Right Action's End, and Right Thought itself, these eight branches are the limbs of the path. These should be cultivated in order to pacify (afflictions and suffering). That is, Right View, and similarly adding Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration, Right Speech, Right Action's End, and Right Thought itself. These are both the Noble Path and the limbs, so they are the eight limbs of the Noble Path. This is to be practiced in order to pacify afflictions and suffering that have not been pacified, and to bring those that have been pacified to the ultimate perfection. The reason for teaching in this order here is due to the needs of meter. Otherwise, it can be summarized as: View, Thought, Speech, Action, Livelihood, Effort, Mindfulness, Concentration, eight branches. The Sutra speaks of it in that order. Among them, Right View is the stainless wisdom that realizes the meaning of reality without distortion. Right Thought is the altruistic mind that wishes others to realize the meaning of reality as one has realized it oneself. Right Speech is to teach others with pure language and words, just as one has realized the meaning of reality oneself. Right Action's End is to abide in the particularly virtuous conduct of abandoning even the slightest non-virtue with body, speech, and mind. Right Livelihood is to abandon wrong livelihood and live in accordance with the Dharma. In the case of renunciates, it is like abiding in the twelve qualities of ascetic practice, such as living on alms and wearing robes made of rags. Right Effort is diligence. Right Mindfulness and Right Concentration, these three branches of the Noble Path, are similar to what is taught in the context of the Seven Factors of Enlightenment. Here, the reason for saying "Right" is because it is the Noble Path that ordinary beings do not have. The reason for specifying the number of branches of the Noble Path as eight is stated in the Discrimination of the Middle and the Extremes: Completely examining.

This and understanding, the three cause others to have faith. The antidote to the unfavorable is the eightfold path. Thus, it is necessary to have a view that can fully measure the meaning of the place with wisdom, and to know that the meaning of the place must be understood and realized by others, which is accomplished through understanding. Speech, action, and livelihood cause others to have faith, and diligence, mindfulness, and samadhi are the antidotes to the unfavorable. View, discipline, and pure resources, wanting others to be able to distinguish, afflictions, near afflictions, and freedom, are the antidotes to the unfavorable. That is also, self-knowing {is [of] understanding the meaning of the place, speaking to others [people] with immaculate words, then it will make people believe that they have the right view, staying in good deeds will make people believe that they have discipline, staying in the correct life will make people believe that the resources are pure, so speech, action, and livelihood are the limbs that make others believe. The diligence of effort can destroy fundamental afflictions such as hatred, mindfulness can counteract near afflictions such as dullness and agitation during samadhi [time], and samadhi can counteract the obstacles to the attainment of freedom, that is, the nine successive absorptions and formless absorptions, as well as the six superknowledges such as magical powers, the ten all-pervading and the eight victories, etc., the obstacles to obtaining, after destroying the obstacles to samadhi with the antidote samadhi, obtaining samadhi and formless samadhi, after obtaining them, then obtaining the freedom of magical powers and superknowledges. Those eight noble path limbs are the means to practice the four truths, and to show that they are the true noble path: This birth is suffering and craving is said, this is the great arising of it, this cessation is liberation, the noble path limbs that attain it are those eight. All the three realms of samsara are suffering, but the main one is this birth.
