To Install in Enlightenment: Having attained the power of the Victorious One, transcending the world, merely a name, peaceful and unmoving, may you attain the state of being without aging, fault, or absence. Here, whether the lineage is certain or uncertain, all are fortunate ones of the Great Vehicle, being both victorious and powerful, for they are the guides of the world, therefore they are powerful ones. Having attained such a state is to have transcended the world. If you ask whether the Hearers and Solitary Realizers are not also those who have transcended the world, the answer is: They are said to have transcended the world only from a coarse point of view, but they have the ground of habitual tendencies of ignorance, uncontaminated karma, a body of the nature of mind, inconceivable (dharmas), death and transference, and birth. Because they have some uncleanness of the afflictions of samsara that has not been purified, they are not truly transcendent of the world. The Buddha's body, speech, mind, activities, and enlightened activities are not the objects of others' experience, but are shown only by name, and all that is to be abandoned, obscurations, etc., are completely pacified, and the unmoving is the eternal body. That is not to become old by the changing of the aggregates. Faults, that is, showing the aspect of impermanence, will not become nirvana, and they do not possess those. May you attain the state of the enjoyment body. This is showing the enlightened activity of placing beings to be tamed in the state of Buddhahood in the manner of advice. The Meaning of the Completion of the Text: The meaning of the completion of the text is threefold: The naming of the treatise is: The Letter to a Friend, sent by the great teacher, the noble Nāgārjuna, to King Udayana, is complete. The colophon is: The Indian Abbot Sarvajñadeva and the translator of Zhuchen, Bandhe Pelste (Dharmatāśīla), translated and established it. The advice to the patron of the translation is: May this rain of advice from the good teacher Nāga increase the ocean of the mind of the lord of men, the king, and may it protect the many fish and frogs of the kingdom and its entourage, fulfilling hopes like a wish-fulfilling jewel. The latter two verses were composed by the translator. {Thus [This before] of the noble Nāgārjuna, with the essence of the nectar of speech, King Udayana...
