also occurs in the gods. The people on earth are going to die, similar to the omens of death. The five omens of the death and transference of the gods of the heavenly realms also occur in the gods. That is to say, when the people on earth are close to death, three years or six months before death, omens of death appear, which is similar to the situation of the gods. The occurrence of death omens in the gods is: death omens occur seven days before the gods' own day. This is because for the gods of the Four Great Kings, one day is equivalent to fifty years of human years; for the gods of the Thirty-three Heavens, one day is equivalent to one hundred years of human years. Although they have enjoyed the wealth of the gods for a long time, they are distracted by being content with pleasure, and they do not realize that a long time has passed, so they do not feel happy. From the moment the signs of death and transference appear, they must endure intense suffering in their hearts for a long time, so the suffering of those seven days is also long and heavy. The suffering of falling into the lower realms is: after transferring from the world of the gods, if there is no remainder of virtue, then one will involuntarily be reborn as any of the animals, hungry ghosts, and hell beings. Not only is there the suffering of death, but even if one obtains the happiness of the gods, the lack of reliable security in the end is the main cause of suffering. After death and transference from the world of the gods, in most cases there is no remainder of virtue. If there is no remainder of virtue, then after this life, one will involuntarily and unwillingly be reborn as any of the animals, hungry ghosts, and hell beings, and thus suffer. At the time of death and transference, the gods, by means of their supernormal powers, can see where they will be reborn. If they know that they will be reborn in the evil realms, they will fear entering that state of existence where suffering is unbearable, and their bodies will wither from suffering. Even if they know that they will be reborn as humans, they will die and transfer with the suffering of not being satisfied with enjoyment and being without enjoyment and poor. If there is no remainder of virtue, they will be reborn in the evil realms, and

If there is any remainder, one will be reborn as a human, and to be reborn from a god to a god is very rare. Explaining the suffering of the Asuras: Although the Asuras also have the nature of gods, they suffer greatly in their minds because they are jealous of the glory of the gods. Although they have intelligence, they are sentient beings in samsara, obscured and unable to see the truth. The beings of the Asura realm are particularly afflicted with mental suffering due to their envy and hatred of the wealth and splendor that is the natural disposition of the gods. The term 'natural disposition' does not refer to the seizure of the wealth of the Asuras, nor to the gods possessing common enjoyments, but rather to the gods naturally possessing enjoyments through the power of their own merit. Due to the jealousy and hatred of the Asuras, they wage war against the gods. The gods possess amrita and great merit, so they rarely die, and their armies do not weaken. When fighting against the armies of the gods, the Asuras do not possess amrita and have little merit, so they are killed and defeated, and therefore suffer greatly. Beings of the Asura realm, even if they possess intelligence and discernment, may enter the Dharma through faith, but due to the 'obscuration of samsara' 21-721 , that is, merely because of the fault of obtaining a body, they cannot see the truth, and cannot attain the wisdom and path of liberation that transcends the world. Moreover, they cannot even attain the path of detachment such as meditative concentration and formless samadhi. The commentary states that 'natural disposition' refers to having a strong sense of pride, but this does not correspond to the meaning of the words. The suffering of the human realm is not discussed here because it has already been discussed in the previous section on the impermanence of death, and in the sections on 'the suffering of old age, sickness, death, and separation,' so it is not repeated. Summary of the essential points: Samsara is like this, so rebirth among gods and humans, and in hells, animals, pretas, etc., is not a good thing; rebirth is a place of many harms, please know this. Because sentient beings in samsara must experience the suffering described above, rebirth among gods and humans, as well as in hells, pretas, animals, etc., {wherever [in] which} it occurs, is a vessel or basis for various harms such as three harms, six harms, and eight harms.

Know that this is fundamental. {One should turn away from virtuous deeds.} The reason why the Asuras are not mentioned in this verse is because they are included in the gods. Thus, the path of seeing and its remaining meanings have been explained. Explaining the fruit of Nirvana and its cause, the path of meditation. Explaining the fruit of Nirvana and its cause, the path of meditation, there are two types of teachings: the teachings on the fruit of Nirvana and the teachings on the path of meditation. The first is: If the head or clothes suddenly catch fire, even if one abandons the act of extinguishing the flames, one should strive to ensure that there is no more rebirth. There is no more supreme Dharma than this. In order to no longer need to be reborn, in order to attain the state of Nirvana, if the head and clothes of a person who is dwelling in Samadhi meditation suddenly catch fire, when extinguishing the flames, the distraction will hinder the Samadhi, and if not extinguished, the Samadhi will increase even more. Therefore, one should abandon the act of extinguishing the flames, and in order to have no more rebirth, in order to be able to cease, one must abide in unwavering meditation with one-pointed mind. Because there is nothing more important and more supreme than this supreme need or thing to be accomplished. With pure discipline, wisdom, and meditation, one can attain the fruit of Nirvana, which is peaceful, gentle, and immaculate, without old age or death, and attain liberation from earth, water, fire, wind, sun, and moon. With the three trainings of pure discipline, wisdom, and meditation, one can attain the fruit of Nirvana. Nirvana is suffering, and abandoning suffering is Nirvana. Peace is being free from thorns and roughness, that is, without afflictions. Gentleness is having no karma that connects in Samsara, and immaculateness is being free from faults. The commentary says that because suffering is completely separated by peace, peace is Nirvana without remainder, and because the senses are particularly distinguished by gentleness, gentleness is Nirvana with remainder. All compounded things are decaying and aging, decaying and disappearing, so there is no old age or death, no aging or death, and the bliss of Nirvana is exhausted and no longer reborn in Samsara, so it is endless.
