Ah, difficult! When explaining the difficulty of obtaining leisure and fortune, it is shown that it is difficult to obtain a human body, explaining having the four wheels, explaining the leisure of being free from the eight unfavorable conditions, etc. Among them, the first is: Like a yoke-hole in a vast ocean, it is even rarer for a blind turtle to meet it than to obtain a human body from among animals. Therefore, O lord of men, practice the Dharma, and make it fruitful. In the vast and boundless ocean, a yoke without direction floats, and there is a hole in the yoke. In the depths of the ocean's center, there is a blind turtle that surfaces once every hundred years, and its neck can pass through the hole of the yoke and meet, which is very rare. However, compared to that, obtaining a human body from among animals and other evil destinies is even more rare and difficult. Therefore, as the king, the lord of men, you should practice the sacred Dharma, and make the obtained human body fruitful. According to the commentary and many texts, the so-called "one place in the ocean" simply means that the yoke and the turtle are located in the same ocean. The additional meaning is: If someone uses a golden vessel adorned with jewels to sweep away filth and vomit, it is even worse than being born as a human and committing all kinds of sins. This person is extremely foolish. If someone uses a golden vessel adorned with jewels to sweep away filth and vomit, it is considered a foolish act in the world. However, being born as a human, obtaining a human body, and then engaging in various sinful deeds will lead to unbearable suffering, so it is an even more foolish act. The golden vessel and the human body can both be regarded as good supports, while sins and filth are equally worthy of being despised. The second is to explain having the four wheels: Residing in a suitable place, relying on a special individual, having good wishes oneself, and having accumulated merit in the past, you possess these four wheels. Residing in a suitable place, relying on a special individual, having good wishes, and being accustomed to merit in the past are the four elements of leisure and fortune. A suitable place is one where one can practice the Dharma.

Residing in a place free from obstacles and endowed with favorable conditions, and with pure body, speech, and mind, reverently relying on the holy being who teaches the Dharma, and making excellent aspirations to practice the Dharma oneself, which are realized in this life, and having the momentum of virtuous deeds accumulated in previous lives, with these conditions, one possesses the four wheels of leisure and endowment, and thus can practice the Dharma. O King, since you possess these four great wheels, strive to practice the holy Dharma. Among these four great wheels, which is the most important? Relying on a virtuous spiritual friend is the most important. If one has this, even if the others are not complete, one is still likely to practice the Dharma. If one does not have this, even if the others are complete, it is difficult to practice the Dharma. Therefore, the importance of relying on a virtuous spiritual friend is emphasized: Relying on a virtuous spiritual friend is practicing pure conduct, which can be perfected, as the Buddha said. Therefore, one should rely on a holy being, a virtuous spiritual friend. By relying on such a friend, many have attained peace. "Pure conduct" means purity, which is liberation from afflictions and their seeds. The practice for the sake of liberation is pure conduct, which is the path to liberation. Therefore, relying on a virtuous spiritual friend is the complete path to liberation, as the Buddha said, so rely on a virtuous spiritual friend, a holy being. Whoever relies well on a virtuous spiritual friend is more likely to generate the complete path to liberation in their mindstream. Furthermore, by relying on the holy Buddha, just as countless beings in the past attained the state of peace, Nirvana, similarly, by relying on a virtuous spiritual friend now, one will generate qualities that are in accordance with it. The sutra "Relying on a Virtuous Spiritual Friend is Perfect Pure Conduct" comes from the Minor Vinaya, which speaks of relying on a virtuous spiritual friend, dwelling together with virtue, and relying on virtue.
