If one has a mind that despises household affairs, and even steals and hides small things, like a thief, any of these three kinds of household mistresses should be abandoned. On the contrary, one should rely on those who possess virtues that are the opposite of these: like a sister, compliant in whatever way; like a friend, pleasing to the heart; like a mother, wishing for benefit; and like a servant girl, obedient, and honoring one's household like a family deity. Like the best of sisters, whose actions do not contradict her own brother's behavior, but follow along, whatever actions and behaviors are in accordance with oneself. Like a friend, pleasing and agreeable to the heart. Like a mother, wishing and thinking for one's own benefit. Like a servant girl, listening to words, serving with respect and fear. Being obedient, honoring one's household like a family deity, such a wife should be relied upon. In the commentary, it is said that it is not good to apply the term "family deity" to the particular characteristics of women. The restraint of food [admonition] is: Food should be taken like medicine, with wisdom, without greed or hatred. Not for the sake of fatness, not for the sake of arrogance, not for the sake of luster, but solely for the sake of maintaining the body. The restraint of food is: Although eating in moderation is also somewhat involved, the main thing is to abandon the conceptual thoughts of afflictions and eat with a mind motivated by virtue. This is like taking medicine, which is for the sake of sustaining the body and healing diseases, not for eating out of attachment to taste. One eats food for the sake of sustaining the body, not eating out of craving and attachment to taste. One [takes] food without the afflictions of greed and hatred, not for the sake of striking and beating others, fighting, competing in strength, etc., for the sake of making the body fat. Not for the sake of arrogance, that is, pride and desire for fame, deliberately eating such expensive food. Not for the sake of luster, that is, for the sake of increasing radiance and strength, for the sake of [loving] women. One eats solely for the sake of maintaining the body, and nothing beyond maintaining the body.

It is the work of doing good. As Āryadeva said in the Four Hundred Verses, "Although this body is seen as an enemy, it should still be well protected. One who possesses discipline and lives long in the world will create great merit from it." As it is said. Not sleeping in the upper and lower parts of the night, but striving in yoga, the {instruction [admonition] is: The lord of wisdom, all day long, and after the upper and lower parts of the night, even when sleeping, it will not become fruitless. With mindfulness, contemplate them well. In Tibetan versions and commentaries, the word "wisdom" is also emphasized where it is appropriate, but in the Chinese version, there is the word "युक्त (yukta)", so it must be translated as wisdom. Because he possesses wisdom and intelligence, the king is called the lord of wisdom. Unless it is necessary to recuperate due to being afflicted by illness, one should abandon all the time during the day and the upper and lower parts of the night, that is, abandon this period. During this time, when sleeping in the middle of the night, in order not to make it fruitless and meaningless, one should sleep with three mindfulnesses: the intention to arise, the intention to appear, and the intention of the Dharma. The intention to arise is: thinking of quickly getting up after recovering from fatigue, this intention is the antidote to sleeping for a long time. The intention to appear is: placing the mind on the aspect of not delaying things during the day, not sleeping indulgently, slightly tightening the body, sleeping as if giving up sleep, and also sleeping with the intention of appearance at night, which is the antidote to not producing deep sleep. The intention of the Dharma is: sleeping in order to strengthen the body, recovering from fatigue, and after waking up from sleep, starting to engage in the activities of the Dharma. By possessing these intentions, the time of sleep will not become meaningless and fruitless, {therefore [in between], possessing virtuous qualities. These {of [by] the Dharma categories related to the path of accumulation and the path of liberation have been explained. The summary of the meaning is: The practice of a Bodhisattva on the path of accumulation is divided into two types: actual practice and pure conduct. The first is: based on abiding in discipline, studying the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating, explained by the {actual [first] verse. Regarding pure conduct, the mind of the unattached noble lineage is:
