From the beginning, middle, and end, internally and externally, at all times and places, there is nothing. Knowing this is contemplating the aspect of selflessness. In the aspect of the truth of origination, although there are four aspects: cause and origination, condition and arising, they converge into one meaning. The nature of origination is that the two, afflictions and karma, produce the suffering result, and the two, afflictions and karma of the same kind, also produce various things. Therefore, knowing that all causes and results of samsara arise from karma and afflictions is contemplating the aspect of the truth of origination. In the aspect of the truth of cessation, although there are four aspects: cessation, peace, excellence, and definite emergence, they converge into one meaning. Because afflictions are abandoned, karma ceases. Because karma ceases, suffering ceases. Thus, the knowing of the cessation of the three, karma, afflictions, and suffering, self-aware and self-illuminating, is the end of all suffering and the realm of supreme bliss and cessation. Generating certainty in this way is contemplating the aspect of cessation. In the aspect of the truth of the path, although there are four aspects: path, knowledge, accomplishment, and definite deliverance, they converge into one meaning. The nature of the truth of the path is the wisdom, samadhi, and discipline, etc., that are without outflows. This has the power to abandon afflictions and enables the attainment of the place of cessation. Generating certainty in this way is contemplating the aspect of the truth of the path. Explaining the order of the five paths in the manner of detailed explanation. Explaining the distinctions of the five paths in detail is divided into two: explaining the order of the path of ordinary beings and explaining the noble path together with its result. Explaining the order of the path of ordinary beings. The first is explaining the dharma related to the path of accumulation and the dharma related to the path of preparation. Explaining the dharma related to the path of accumulation. The first is explaining that in the path of accumulation, one must especially abide in discipline and wisdom, which is: Even those who are men of noble birth, appearance, and learning, are not respected if they lack wisdom and discipline. Therefore, whoever possesses these two qualities, even if they lack other qualities, should be revered. Whether a man is born into a royal family, like a great sala tree, or born into a Brahmin family, like a great sala tree, becoming the highest of lineages.

Transformation Having a good appearance due to beauty and being free from illness, etc. Although one may be extremely learned in the worldly sciences, such as the eighteen branches of knowledge, if one lacks the wisdom to practice the true nature and know the path to liberation, and is devoid of the discipline of abiding in pure acceptance and rejection, then one is not an object of veneration for the world, including the gods. Moreover, if one possesses the qualities of lineage, appearance, and learning, what more needs to be said? Even if one lacks these and other qualities, but possesses the wisdom to understand the true nature and the path to liberation, and the qualities of perfect discipline, then whoever possesses these two qualities becomes a sacred object of offering and veneration for the world. Wisdom is also divided into three types: the wisdom of hearing, the wisdom of thinking, and the wisdom of meditation. In this stage of the path of accumulation, the wisdom of hearing and the wisdom of thinking are the most important. As for discipline, although there are limitless Bodhisattva vows, in this context, it refers to the Pratimoksha vows. It is taught that the practitioner on the path of accumulation must equalize the eight worldly dharmas, which are explained below: "The worldly knower, gain and no gain, pleasure and displeasure, pleasant and unpleasant, praise and blame, these are the eight worldly dharmas. Do not let them disturb my mind, treat them equally." The Worldly Knower, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, also taught that one must equalize the eight dharmas. That is, gaining perfect enjoyment, not gaining enjoyment and being poor, the body being free from illness and the mind being at ease, and unease, pleasant words and unpleasant words passed on from one to another, and direct praise and blame to oneself, these eight dharmas. Worldly people are very attached to these, and therefore engage in attachment and aversion. This is due to deluded and confused thoughts. In reality, this is merely following worldly conventions, and not truly abiding in the object of acceptance and rejection of reality. Therefore, one should not be happy and attached to the four, such as gain, and one should not be sad and hateful to the four, such as no gain. One should treat these eight dharmas equally. The practitioner on the path of accumulation should [very much] abide in accepting and rejecting the results of actions.
