Napa. One should visualize as follows: From the vajra, in a subtle form, visualize Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Wrathful Deities, and Vidyadharis, filling the sky like sesame pods, abiding on the sun disc. Then, the Buddhas and others subdue all sentient beings, establishing them in Bodhi. Again, gathering them together with oneself, visualize them entering the vajra body. That vajra body has nine faces, the form of a buffalo, blazing like the fire at the end of an eon. Great Vajrabhairava is able to devour the three realms. The face smiles, making the sound Haha (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Haha, laughter), the tongue curls, displaying wrathful wrinkles, causing fear. Beside the wrathful wrinkles, the eyebrows and eyes flash like a time of great terror, emitting a loud sound. Eating human blood, fat, oil, and marrow, making a threatening gesture towards the gods of the world and beyond. Indra, Brahma, Mahadeva, Vishnu, and youths are face down, trampled underfoot. Adorned with a terrifying garland of skulls, the top of the piled skulls has great terror. Phem (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Phem, seed syllable) emits a sound, adorned with hanging ornaments of skulls. Having sixteen feet, the naked body with the genitals erect, the left leg extended, the belly large, the hair standing on end, causing great terror. Phat (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Phat, cut off) emits a sound. Having thirty-four arms, holding a wet elephant hide. One should visualize the glorious Vajrabhairava with the face of a buffalo. Thus, having visualized with a very firm mind, abiding very equally in the yoga of that very reality, the mantra practitioner should always practice. The first right hand holds a vajra chopper, the second holds a single-pointed spear, the third holds a pestle, the fourth holds a water knife, the fifth holds a single-pointed vajra, the sixth holds an axe, the seventh holds a spear, the eighth holds an arrow, the ninth holds an iron hook, the tenth holds a staff, the eleventh holds a khatvanga, the twelfth holds a wheel, the thirteenth holds a vajra, the fourteenth holds a vajra hammer, the fifteenth holds a sword, the sixteenth holds a damaru. The first left hand holds a skull cup, the second holds a head, the third holds a shield.

The two hands hold the wet elephant hide. The first of the right foot is a human, the second is a buffalo, the third is a bull, the fourth is a donkey, the fifth is a camel, the sixth is a dog, the seventh is a sheep, the eighth is a jackal. The right foot presses down on these. The first of the left foot is a vulture, the second is an owl, the third is a crow, the fourth is a parrot, the fifth is a hawk, the sixth is a garuda, the seventh is a wagtail, the eighth is a magpie. The left foot presses down on these. The face of glorious Vajrabhairava is extremely black, in the form of a buffalo, extremely wrathful. On the right horn are three faces, the first is blue, the second is red, and the third is yellow, these are the three extremely wrathful faces of the lord. Thus, having contemplated that the great Vajrabhairava, with the face of a buffalo, is oneself, and then abiding very calmly, the yogi who abides in the place of heroes, should recite the mantra from the outside. At the time of recitation, one should contemplate that in the center of one's heart, on the sun disc, the form of one's own mantra appears and blazes, and from the outside one should recite with an undistracted mind. This is the mantra practitioner who abides in union, constantly performs all actions without fear, one should practice in the charnel ground, and constantly consume the five ambrosias. This practice is not the attainment of anything else, furthermore, one should consume large amounts of ghee lamps, the yogi who walks at night, should recite the three hundred thousand root mantras.
