Stealing makes grains and medicines less potent, theft causes bad harvests, adultery makes places dusty and smelly, lying makes places uneven and difficult to pass, discord makes places hot, harsh words increase sand and gravel, and idle talk causes the seasons to be reversed, with winter rotting, spring freezing, summer drying, and autumn hailing, and so on. Greed causes grains to become small, malice causes the taste to be unpleasant, and wrong views cause grains not to grow at all. Thus, from these fruits that are similar to the cause, and from the fruits of the master, the birth of doing this and that occurs in that very birth. In the state of the next life, when born in the heavens, it also occurs at various indefinite times. Therefore, these ten non-virtuous deeds are the basis of various undesirable sufferings, so these should not be done in the future even if it costs one's life. One should also strive to find ways to purify all that has been done before, and meditate on this again and again. The eighteenth contemplation. Now, one should think about virtuous actions, obtaining the body of the heavens, and all the happiness of samsara, all arise from virtuous actions. The three kinds of enlightenment that transcend the world also arise from virtue, so I should abandon all sins and learn all virtues as much as possible, and although there are many kinds of virtues to be learned, the initial entry point for all virtues is called the ten white virtues. This is the mind of abandonment and behavior of turning away from the ten non-virtues previously taught, having abandoned them in the mind, and I should always abide in this, and meditate in this way. Among them, the meaning of abandoning the ten non-virtues in the mind is that one recognizes that they have faults and great shortcomings, and never wants them, and turning back in body and speech means that not only does one not do these ten non-virtuous deeds in ordinary times or in leisure, but even if doing these things seems profitable and can be done without effort, one should abandon what one has already abandoned in the mind.

Because of mindfulness, one is completely unable to begin doing evil deeds. For the seven branches of body and speech, both of these must be present. For the three actions of mind, it is sufficient to abandon them with the mind alone. The very thought that non-virtue is bad is itself the mind of abandonment. This is because recognizing that non-virtue is bad is an unadulterated conventional wisdom, and therefore becomes a Dharma that is an antidote to the path, and this is the nature of ethics. If a strong mind of abandonment arises several times, even if it is interrupted by sleepiness and distraction, etc., at such times, recognizing the misdeed as a fault, one does not do it and becomes disciplined. This arises from the power of the previous mind, and that power also comes from the power of the seed. Therefore, the mind of abandoning the ten non-virtues, together with the seed, is the ten virtues. Nineteenth contemplation. Now we should contemplate the benefits of the ten virtues. That is, extensively practicing the ten virtuous actions will result in taking birth as a god as the result of maturation. Practicing them in a small way will result in obtaining a human body as the result of maturation. The scriptures say that even if it is a virtuous action, if it is mixed with impure intention, etc., one will be born as an Asura. The result that corresponds to the cause and the dominant result are also the opposite of what was said in the case of the ten non-virtues: long life, wealth, freedom from enemies, praise, many friends, good reputation, truthful words, fulfillment of wishes, peace of mind, and increase of wisdom. These are the ten results that correspond to the cause of virtue. Great power, good harvests, pleasant experiences, equality between high and low, fertile land, flourishing plants, timely seasons, plump grains, delicious taste, and abundant fruits. These are the dominant results of the ten virtues. Thus, abiding in the ten virtues is the cause of constant happiness in this life and the next, therefore I should always abide in the ten virtues, and meditate on this repeatedly. Twentieth contemplation. At these times, it is very important to know the distinctions of cause and effect in detail, therefore the teacher explains it repeatedly, and the students keep it in mind, and it is crucial not to just look at the surface, but to apply it to oneself. Now, the essential conclusion of the Dharma topics on contemplating cause and effect is this: the white as previously shown.

Think about the results of negative actions. It is very important to offer confession with the four powers complete for the sins and non-virtuous actions that have been done in the past. The power of reliance is taking refuge and generating the mind of enlightenment. The power of antidote is whatever good deeds are accomplished to purify sins. The power of regret is remorse for what has been done in the past. The power of restraint is the determination to abstain from now on. These four must be complete. Therefore, at the beginning and end of each session, perform such confession once. During the breaks between sessions, repeatedly confess and repent before Khenpo, Acharya, Lama, the Three Jewels, Sangha, etc. Even if these are not available, visualize the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas filling the sky and offer confession. Recite the Sutra of the Three Heaps and the confession of the Golden Light Sutra, etc., and whatever sins you have committed, it is important to say what you have done like this, without hiding or concealing it. Not only the ten non-virtuous actions, but also all the big and small things that belong to sinful non-virtuous actions, do not do them yourself. Do not allow others to do them, do not rejoice or be happy in sin. Do not praise or extol them, meditate like this. White virtuous actions are not only the ten paths of action, but also saving the lives of others, giving food, giving things, keeping morality, offering to the Three Jewels, and all that belongs to virtue such as faith, do as much as you can yourself and also let others do it. For the virtuous deeds done by yourself and others, also rejoice and also say praises, think like this. There is also an action that is neither virtuous nor sinful, called unspecified action, such as walking, standing, sleeping, sitting, etc., which are various uncertain actions. Although these do not have ripening results, they waste time meaninglessly. Due to laziness and distraction, one is influenced by them. From now on, do not be influenced by laziness and distraction. Instead of generating unspecified actions, transform your mind and actions to purely virtuous deeds, meditate like this. Incidentally, during the breaks between sessions, you should also think like this: In order to accumulate special collections from life to life, it is necessary to achieve a noble body with eight qualities. Therefore, abandoning the thought of harming can lead to longevity, and giving lamps and clothes, etc.
