It is said that there is no truth. If such a thing exists in appearance, then for the people of the world, the nature of reality will appear. If there is no truth and it does not appear even when it appears, then how can the name of existence be established? If there is no truth but it appears, then all deceptive dharmas are conventional truth, and ultimate truth becomes a subject of dharma. Therefore, this does not exist in the appearance of the world, but in the appearance of wisdom, it is apparent and true. Because ultimate truth is the basis of all samsara and nirvana, the saints consider the alaya-vijñana to be wisdom itself. Saying that the alaya-vijñana is the essence of mind is like pointing to the moon with the tip of a finger, or using a red cloth to represent a man. The Buddha said that foolish people do not understand this meaning. Ultimate truth is nirvana in its own nature, and focusing on this will attain all peace. If gold exists, like the impurities on gold, beginningless and endless samsara also arises from it. Although the dharmadhatu is not the cause of samsara, without it, samsara would not exist either, just as the mandala of wind in the sky is a support. Therefore, the establishment of being the basis of samsara is made. This is the focus on sudden nirvana, and the wise say that this is also its basis and cause. Support, basis, cause, and lineage are the ways in which they appear in the minds of yogis. It is taught there because it is necessary to realize the true nature of the ultimate dharmadhatu. There is no awakening or non-awakening in the nature of lineage, because it exists, it becomes the cause of growth, and for those who have already arisen, it is merely established as awakening. The name is established that this increases and that also increases. If there is no place to obtain, all dharmas have no fruit. Even if it exists, what is the need to obtain something unreal? Newly produced things may be prevented and cut off. The cause of merit is small and the fruit is large, most of them are of the same kind, why is it not newly produced? Even if faults become merits, they are not equal, because the wisdom and merits of the Buddha are infinite. Therefore, it is established as the fruit in the original state. Denying that the Buddha is impermanent, that there is no dharmakaya, or that the essence of mind is annihilation, or that there is no truth. Slandering that the essence of mind has no merits and this dharma. These people will be short-lived, sickly, and have leprosy. Wealth will decline, power will decline, and politics will decline. The sutras say that they will be foolish, deaf and mute, and will be reborn in evil realms. Those who speak this meaning will be long-lived, healthy, and happy, and will attain the irreversible state and the eternal dharmakaya.

Affirmation. This is the third chapter on establishing the essence of the Buddha, the realm of Dharma. The fourth chapter: Establishing the proof of the eight consciousness aggregates. The teacher said: Apprehending to self and phenomena, Whatever various appearances arise, That is the transforming consciousness. Transformation is also of three kinds: Vipāka and ego-clinging, And discrimination towards objects. A mere luminosity of accumulated habits, Appearing as self and various objects. Just as many small streams, Gather into what is called a great river, If its waves surge, It is difficult to distinguish between waves and the river. The ālaya-vijñāna is like a great river, Habits accumulated from beginningless time are all gathered as water. Present habits newly mixed with seeds, The stream previously mixed is vipāka. The nature is undifferentiated, like water. Although its nature is clear, it is towards objects, Its form is unclear, it focuses on everything. Having the power to manifest all containers and contents, It is limitless and equal to all. The seven consciousnesses are like waves in the river, Those clear and cognitive transformations, Although similar to the ālaya in terms of cognition, They do not have the nature of mind. River waves and river water are the same as water, But they do not have its characteristics. Again it is said: In that, the ālaya-vijñāna, Is the vipāka of all seeds. It dwells with those who receive, Discrimination and non-discrimination. Always possessing touch and attention, Feeling, perception, and thought. Its feeling is neutral, It is obscured and indeterminate. Touch and so on are also the same. It is like a constantly flowing river. In the state of an arhat, it can be stopped. Abiding in it, it arises, Because it focuses on it, it is called mind. The self-nature of ego-clinging consciousness, Always accompanied by the four defilements, Which are obscured and indeterminate. Self-view and self-ignorance, Self-pride and self-perception, Wherever it is born, it is also there. Touch and so on are also not present in an arhat. It is not present in the cessation meditation. It is also not present in the supramundane path. Thirdly, upon the six objects, Whatever is focused upon is those, Non-virtuous, virtuous, and both.
