I also proclaimed it in Kham. As stated by the master Nāgārjuna: What is the nature of the Tathāgata? It is the nature of these sentient beings. If the nature of the Tathāgata is absent, The nature of these sentient beings is also absent. The "absence" thus spoken is free from elaboration, Elsewhere, discerning qualities without a basis of difference. Like an illusion, what need is there to examine further? Cutting off the doubt that the nature of beings is substantial. The Dharmadhātu is the Sugata-garbha, Permanent, all-pervading, self-aware wisdom, All aspects, a sign of complete severance. Free from elaboration and untainted, the meaning of complete severance. Inseparable nature, lineage, and ultimate realm, Thus, its characteristics are ninefold. Herein lies the state of the ultimate realm, And how it appears to yogis. If it changes, it is false because it is substantial, Since the unchanging exists, it is utterly permanent. All-pervading is impossible with parts, Without parts, there is no near or far, so pervasion is fitting. Because there is no distinction between knower and known, And because it is known by the Victorious Ones, it is established as self and awareness. Though aware, it needs no knower or known, Like moisture, there is no need for a moistener or moistened. Just as one establishes the nature of moisture alone, Who can deny this mere self-awareness? Because it is inseparable from the wisdom of the Victorious Ones, The realm is the wisdom of the Victorious Ones, established by valid cognition. Therefore, why would there not be limitless qualities? Because it knows all knowable things, It holds the ultimate aspect of all knowable things, Therefore, all aspects of samsara and nirvana appear in it. Because it is the nature of reality that agrees with all perfections, Through familiarizing with it, this also becomes manifest. Because it is the nature of reality that disagrees with all afflictions, Through the power of training in it, this becomes manifest. Because it transcends all objects of thought, It is free from all elaboration and expression. Because non-true thought has never existed, It is impossible for it to be tainted, so it is untainted. If the characteristic is negated, the basis is also negated, Like negating the body, the embodied is also negated, Negating the embodied, beings like humans are also negated, If that is negated, like space, it cannot be negated. By negating birth, the born is negated, But one cannot negate the unborn reality. Apply this reasoning to all other instances. Permanence, pervasion, etc., and freedom from elaboration are not contradictory.

Empty and non-empty are united, But in reality, there is no union, hence no uniting. In the absence of distinction, distinctions are made. 18-29 Empty in terms of conventional truth, not empty in terms of wisdom. In accordance with the minds and understanding of yogis, That is the lineage, that is also the element. Passed down from beginningless time, Obtained by nature, the six sense bases. Having such three characteristics, The way the essence is shown with nine examples and teachings. Mostly, it is a way that accords with the minds of practitioners. Each sentient being has one essence, the way of continuity and the Buddhas, In body and mind, a lineage of mere similarity. Also, the way it grows through the path, etc., The way it appears to yogis, in that there are also separate ways of seeing for ordinary beings and noble ones. These are not made dominant by the way they exist. This pervades the three times but is separate from time. Therefore, the term "constant" is not desired here. Constant is merely an illusion, hence it does not exist. Wisdom exists as the essence without illusion. If it exists separately, it is not true because of illusion. For example, like particles residing in different places. Growth through the path is also not its nature, Therefore, the suddenness of Buddha's wisdom is a fault. Because it is all-pervasive and the basis of all, it is the element of all phenomena, and because it has all aspects, it is also the lineage. The meaning of element is like the element of gold pervading gold ore. Lineage is the meaning of similarity or oneness. Although the Buddha pervades all, it does not pervade each part separately. The complete Buddha pervades each sentient being. Sentient beings are obscured by obscurations, hence they do not see it. The sun is never obscured by clouds, But when the earth is covered by clouds, people say that the sun resides inside the clouds. The Sugata-essence of beings is also the same. If there is no essence, there will be no nature of phenomena. If there is no nature of phenomena, where will there be a phenomenon holder? If that does not exist, then there will be no holder of characteristics, If that also does not exist, then knowable, knowable, and realizable, seeing, etc., will not exist. If there is not, 18-30 Merely on how conventional truth appears, saying not to slander is also just deceptive words. If it appears, It contradicts the absence of knowing, awareness, realization, and seeing. If not examined, in mere appearance, the nature of phenomena, Although it exists, it has no real meaning.
