Whatever is, its own nature, Characteristics, etc. Discern one and many, or seek contradictions. Therefore, all methods of discernment are included in it. The tenets of others and ourselves do not have that true "that". If it exists, it must exist in this way, This secret word applies to everything needed. If you examine this, there are many illogical things. Action and agent cannot be true, how can they be true? It must be independent and separate, This is like saying that a rabbit's head has no horns, and if it does, It must be white, not anything else. Neither self nor other admits, things cannot exist. Establishing such a definition is a foolish act. Abandon all appearances that seem to be searching for the object of investigation, Strive to enter the path of correct reasoning. This is the treatise on establishing the two selflessnesses, the sixth chapter. Treatise, the seventh chapter. Establishing the Two Truths. In order to cultivate after gaining correct certainty about the conclusion explained in that way, the two truths, Knowing the two truths, view and conduct will be completely purified. One will attain supreme wisdom on the meaning of the interpretable and definitive. The nature of oneself is the true emptiness, of consciousness, The object is merely the definition of conventional. The nature of oneself is truly established, of the noble ones, The object of wisdom is considered the ultimate truth. Gyaltshab also said: Children obscure the very truth, And the untrue appears everywhere. Bodhisattvas eliminate that, And the very truth appears everywhere. Meaningless and meaningful, Are called non-appearing and appearing. To the habitual tendencies of ignorance accumulated since beginningless time, Unstained by immediate causes of delusion, with clear appearance, That which is suitable as an object of acceptance and rejection, Is considered by the wise as the true conventional. The objects of sound and concept, imputation, And whatever appears due to immediate causes of delusion, And all the general meanings imputed by wrong views, Are definitely said to be the false conventional. The true conventional has two types: worldly and yogic, The external and internal appearances that are unexamined are worldly, Other-powered mind-only is merely yogic. Although reasoning proofs can be applied to that, Since clear appearance is in the state of being unexamined, Appearance and mind are not merely the object of examination. Just as the ultimate truth is established by reasoning, but it is not like that. Because it obscures the true meaning, it is conventional, Because it is the supreme object to be realized.

It is the ultimate truth. Conventional truth is only true in convention. Ultimate truth is only true in the ultimate sense. What appears to be true and what manifests to be true are both conventional. Therefore, generally speaking, convention is false. The individual consciousness with its retinue, which has a conventional object, and wisdom alone has an ultimate object. The path is that which has an object and follows the ultimate. The essence of realization is self-awareness, without difference. Subsequent cognition, intelligence, faculties, and consciousness measure the conventional. The realization of the ultimate is non-conceptual wisdom. Intelligence measures the general characteristics of the meaning of the holy ones. 18-63 Self-awareness can be divided into conventional and ultimate. In worldly parlance, there are two truths in convention. In our own system, there is only convention and conventional truth. These correspond respectively to the completely imputed and the dependent. Convention also has its own convention and the ultimate, which are the two truths and consciousness only. The difference in the ultimate is twofold: the expressible and the inexpressible. The absence of inherent existence in convention is only expressible. The mere absence of elaboration and the mere emptiness are also the same. If one does not understand the absence of reality as it is, it is only a general term. If one understands it as it is, it will not appear as elaboration. Therefore, for the sake of the inferior, even if one refutes the absence of reality, etc., there is no difference between the absence of reality, the absence of elaboration, and the mere emptiness. The ultimate of the inexpressible is the wisdom of the essence. Alternatively, even in the ultimate itself, one can distinguish between the two truths. They are distinguished by the part that is free from duality and the opposite of wisdom. The basis for distinguishing the two truths is merely the extent of existence and what is knowable. They need to be distinguished because of the two kinds of intelligence, the two ways of realization, samsara and nirvana, and the agent, ordinary beings and noble ones. In the realm of wisdom, what is done is only the truth. The assertion that these truths are one is refuted. From the perspective of essence, they are neither one nor different. If they were one, liberation would be attained by seeing the conventional, and the other would become the object of affliction, and the conventional would change as if there were no difference between them. Apart from seeing and hearing, there would be no ultimate to seek. If they were different, even if one saw the ultimate, one could not reverse attachment to the conventional, and it would not be the nature of things, and the conventional would not be established, and the ultimate would not change, and both would become objects at the same time, as it is said. The characteristics of the ultimate should be applied to the two as appropriate. The way to establish the nature of the two truths is that the protector and the teacher exchange words with others and with themselves. Phenomena, like illusions, appear as true and empty. The unchanging nature of phenomena, the emptiness of the two, is the truth of wisdom. What is apprehended is said to be like an illusion.
