The object of this self-grasping is the five aggregates of one's own continuum, viewing their form as self. Due to delusion, conceptual thoughts are not deeply rooted, so it is possible to generate the idea of grasping as self even for the continuums of others and things that do not belong to the continuum. The types of aggregates are uncertain, sometimes five aggregates, etc., and it is seen that they arise in an uncertain manner. Grasping as mine is also the view of the aggregates of destruction. Mainly, it generates attachment to the continuums of self and others, possessions, etc., other than consciousness, but it is not certain. The way of grasping that, the object of attachment, does not actually exist. Without investigation, it is assumed that there is a person in accordance with the world. But in reality, from the perspective of reality, it never exists. It is only established as existing in mere convention. Sighters, sentient beings, etc. are also similar to this. It is wrong to think that they really exist. It is different from ignorance by inverted wisdom. Because it is related to many ignorances, some wise people also use the name of ignorance. It has been said before that it can be summarized into three afflictions. Nagarjuna also said: If the aggregates are the self, then they will become things that arise and cease. If I am different from the aggregates, then I will lose the nature of the aggregates. If the god is the same as this person, then it will become permanent. If the god is different from the person, then it will become impermanent. The aggregates of grasping are not the self, because they are things that arise and cease. How can the aggregates of grasping become the grasper? {I am not the aggregates of grasping, it is unreasonable to be different from the aggregates of grasping, because it is permanent.} The person is not earth, not water, not fire, not wind, not space, not consciousness, if it is none of these, then what else is the person besides these? The Hundred Treatises also say: If the inner self is a woman, not a man, not a hermaphrodite, then at that time, apart from ignorance, do you think I am a man? A man is not me, because the bodies of men and women are different. The same should be understood for women and hermaphrodites. How can natures be contradictory and things be the same? If the greedy one is me, then the one without greed will not be me. If you think that the bound one is me, then it is not the liberated one. If contradictory natures are also the same, then is it not too much for earth, etc. to become me? If it is that very nature, then there will be various contradictions. Because feeling arises from sensation, the feeler is not me. If it is me, then the one who takes is the hand, and the one who walks is the foot, then are the hand and foot not me?

Therefore, since karma is seen to be created by body, speech, and mind, if I have not created it, why do I experience the results? Since there is no collection apart from parts, body, speech, and mind are never me. If everything is me, then it is subject to others, impermanent, and confused. Since it becomes many, therefore I do not exist. If, in the manner of pervasion, the pervader and the pervaded are one, then there are the aforementioned faults, and if the pervader and the pervaded are not one, then I will not experience happiness and suffering. Unrelated to virtue and vice, etc., karmic results and bondage and liberation, etc., will also not exist for it. If offering and generosity have a self, then merit and spiritual friends also, the attachment to self will tend towards offering and generosity. Just as the concept of a mountain has no distinction. From the perspective of the Abhidharma, what is called self is the mind of a demon, and you have become a seer. This conditioned aggregate is empty, and there is no sentient being in it. Just as a collection of limbs, relying on it, is called a chariot, similarly, relying on the aggregates, it is called a conventional sentient being. In order to seek the supreme benefit of others, and because of having the wisdom of arising and ceasing, from the control of beings over this, etc., it is known that I am different. If the body is the self, then it will be separate, and if the mind is the self, then mind and mental factors will also be distinguished. If it is different from both, then search inside and outside. If it is merely a general collection, then it is not substantial. For the self, possessing a body is not permissible, because it has characteristics, and the relationship of cause and effect, support and supported, and owner. None of them are reasonable, because they have faults. Characteristics have been previously refuted, and they do not arise mutually. If they arise, then it is impermanent, and similarly, it will depend on others. If the body is the support, then the self will have birth and death. If the self is the support, then the body will be permanent. The self and the body exist mutually, and it is considered the relationship of owner. For form, the self is not determined inside or outside. If form exists in the self, then separation is contradictory. The self created the self, having the power to abandon and take form, etc. If needed, then it is not so, because it is not form. It is not compatible with above and below, etc., and the same place. It is not like grass and trees relying on the earth, similarly, the functions of growth and decline, etc., are not determined. Even if it creates, it is not certain, because it exists in the external environment. If the totality of body and mind is the self, it is also not permissible, because form and mind are one, and the other is contradictory. Therefore, the selflessness of the person is the Great Vehicle.
