Thereafter, seeking the aspects of the path is the activity of Bodhisattvas. Subhuti, Bodhisattvas should generate all the paths, be they the path of the Hearers, the path of the Solitary Realizers, or the path of the Buddhas, and they should know all the paths. Moreover, they should perfect these paths, and they should engage in the activities of these paths. Without perfecting their aspirations, without maturing beings, and without purifying Buddha-fields, they will not directly realize the ultimate reality. Therefore, Bodhisattvas are said to know the aspects of the path. Thus it is said. Regarding this, most people say that realizing the three paths as unborn, and realizing the three paths as without inherent existence. Their unbornness and lack of inherent existence are considered as a part of the characteristics that demonstrate the Prajnaparamita. That may be the case, but it is not necessary to cling only to such characteristics of the Prajnaparamita. Although that is the case, for example, like placing the aggregates such as form as the support for the object of focus, and then meditating on its lack of truth, or the appearance of that phenomenon appearing as lacking truth. Here too, after first ascertaining the characteristics of the paths of the three vehicles in the mind, and then focusing on the appearance of similar characteristics appearing in the mind, meditating that this is without inherent existence, or merely meditating on the meaning of the lack of inherent existence of the experiences of meditative equipoise and post-meditation of the various stages and paths appearing like illusions, is not the meaning of the unborn path in this context. So what is it? The aspect of the path being unborn means the path of the unborn aspect. That is to say, whatever path of meditative equipoise or post-meditation of one's own continuum, is either the aspect of all elaborations such as arising, ceasing, and abiding being pacified in their own place, or even if some actual aspects of elaboration appear, they are controlled by the power of the non-elaborate meditative equipoise, so that the characteristics of elaboration weaken and become similar to non-elaboration, this is the path of the unborn aspect. And the way to realize or know it is, in meditative equipoise, only self-awareness, and in post-meditation, both. Therefore, Bodhisattvas

Their non-conceptual samadhi wisdom. The aspect of realizing the absence of self of phenomena, which is free from elaboration, is the actual path for accomplishing complete and perfect Buddhahood. The realization of the absence of self of persons in the continuum of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, etc., is exactly the same as that unerring wisdom, the way of realization, the qualities, and the benefits. Because it possesses those, along with the remainder of many incidental qualities, it is called the path of all three vehicles. And because it is known by self-awareness, it is the knowledge of the path. Until the three, completion, maturation, and purification, are done, it is the karma of not manifesting the true limit, and at other times, it is said to be the karma of not specifically abandoning afflictions, etc. Although the knowledge of the path, which is made in the stage of the Bodhisattva itself, possesses those differences, it is not necessary to have it that way to establish it as the knowledge of the path. Buddha is the ultimate result, so in the case of omniscience, all three imputed characteristics are explained. Since Bodhisattvas have not manifested all the results, only the path is mentioned. The third thing is the base knowledge. In the sutra it says: "Bhagavan, for what reason is the omniscience of Hearers and Solitary Realizers?" Subhuti, everything is just as many external and internal phenomena as there are, and those are also known by Hearers and Solitary Realizers, but not by all paths, nor in all aspects. Therefore, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers are called omniscient. Here, it says knowing the base, external and internal phenomena, although it is not clear how the way of knowing is, but because it is the realization of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, it must be the way of realizing the absence of self of persons. In the sutra it says: "In the aggregates, persons, and the absence of self, they are able to distinguish and see, because they have not destroyed the reality of phenomena, those Hearers will become manifest realizers." Thus it is said. Therefore, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not directly realize the absence of self of phenomena, so they have not abandoned the clinging to the self of phenomena either. However, by the power of realizing the absence of self of persons, clinging to things
