Because of entering through faith in the common emptiness, it is also very wonderful to enter only into the Dharma that suits one's own capacity, just like those who previously spoke of no self-nature. All phenomena of appearance and sound are not established from the beginning. Therefore, the unchanging, all-pervading wisdom that is free from all elaborations is the meaning of selflessness of phenomena, completely perfect, completely pure, and extremely rich. It is enough to elaborate a little. In this way, the ultimate realm that is empty of characteristics is emptiness. Characteristics are only things or dependent on things. Things are also gathered into the five aggregates. Among them, the five senses and forms, sounds, smells, tastes, etc. are produced from the elements, that is, the meaning of being transformed from the elements. Similarly, within the category of touch, lightness, heaviness, softness, roughness, etc. are also the result of the elements. If it is believed that the elements are also touch, then it is not believed that these are established by nature, because from the elements that are not the object of the eye consciousness, which is the cause, it is impossible to produce the form element that is the object of the eye consciousness, which is the result, because form and touch are different in that their nature is not established. Color and shape are not established by their own nature, because they depend on the cause, that is, the elements. This is the reasoning of dependent origination. Feeling is also not established by nature, because feelings of pleasure and pain depend on pleasant and unpleasant causes. Conception is the nature of grasping characteristics, and characteristics are also the nature of grasping names and meanings mixed together. If names and meanings are not different entities but one entity, then saying the word "fire" would cause the speaker's mouth to be burned. If the nature is established as another entity, then the meaning cannot be understood from the name, because if the nature is another entity, there is no connection. This belongs to the reasoning of being free from one and different, names and meanings are not inherently existent, because they are neither inherently one nor inherently different, like an image. This is the fundamental combination. Its sign is established, which is what was shown above. This doer is action, the name of the person of the doer.

The present place is called Karma. If someone says that this person is actively creating virtuous karma, or creating non-virtuous karma, or creating immovable karma, this is only a nominal statement, and in the ultimate sense, it is not so. Karma is not established by its own nature, because it depends on the agent. Just as without a father, there would be no son. If it is thought that because there is an agent, there is also karma, then the agent is also not established by its own nature, because without karma, the agent is unreasonable, just as without crops, there would be no harvester. Thus, karma and agent are interdependent, and neither is established. However, in the appearance of delusion and in conceptual thought, karma and agent exist. This is only dependent arising, there is no action of an agent established by its own nature, nor does the agent enjoy the result, nor does he accumulate merit, and so on. Karma and agent are also not established by their own nature, because they arise from the dependent arising of cause and condition, like an illusion. As it is said: That which is born from conditions is unborn. There is no nature of birth in it. Whatever depends on conditions is seen as empty. Whoever knows emptiness is the one who is mindful. If there is no consciousness, then the object of knowledge will not be established. If eye consciousness does not exist at all, then form will completely not exist, because the object seen by the eye cannot exist. Similarly, if consciousness, that is, eye consciousness, is not truly established, then the object of knowledge, that is, form, is also not truly existent. If form does not exist at all, then the arising of eye consciousness is impossible. If form is not truly established, then the eye consciousness that sees it is also not truly established, because consciousness depends on the dependent arising of the object. Therefore, eye consciousness is not established by its own nature, because it must depend on form to arise. Form is not established by its own nature, because it must depend on being seen by eye consciousness to be considered form. Neither is real, because they are interdependent. Therefore, the skandhas are like illusions, dreams, mirages, and the visions of a gandharva city.
