It is all-pervasive. 17-452 Because it is immutable and free from the three characteristics of arising, ceasing, and abiding, it is also permanent. In terms of profound ultimate reality, this is the all-pervasive and permanent. As it is said: Because of such vast deeds, the Buddha is definitely said to be all-pervasive. Because that nature is inexhaustible, it is also said to be permanent. Such statements refer to the all-pervasive and permanent that is primarily based on conventional truth. Therefore, the essence of the selflessness of phenomena, which is taught in various ways, is this: the Sugata-garbha, the self-aware, immutable, and all-encompassing, for which any adventitious stains such as appearances and sounds are not established. Moreover, it is not established merely by stating that these are not established in it, but rather the wisdom-gnosis distinguished by non-establishment is itself taken as the primary meaning. Therefore, to consider that the objects of negation, such as form, are merely empty of inherently existent entities to be negated, is to consider that as the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena, is a coarse conceptualization that is just a slightly elevated conceptualization of ordinary worldly people towards emptiness. Furthermore, all phenomena of appearance and sound have never existed from the beginning, and if they were to be established, they would have to be established as existent. However, since existence is not established, non-existence is established by its own nature, which is impossible in general. Understanding that as being free from the elaborations of existence, non-existence, being, and non-being, and considering that as the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena, although it is not wrong from that perspective, it is only understanding half of the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena. On top of that view, all those who are known as proponents of self-emptiness consider that the ultimate reality is no different from appearances and sounds, and is not established as truly existent. They also believe that the Sugata-garbha, which possesses qualities, is impossible for knowable objects. They also believe that wisdom is not the ultimate reality, but only the conventional. They also slander and say that the scriptures that teach these are of provisional meaning. Furthermore, they hate and slander the great Bodhisattvas who clearly explain the tenets of Other-Empty Great Madhyamaka. 17-453 This is a very serious mistake. Due to the power of great sinful actions, they go from bad rebirth to bad rebirth, and are completely controlled by demons and evil friends. Again and again, one's own deep and sacred Dharma...

The act of slandering is being done by saying: "Even if the two truths are distinguished, those great ones who are ignorant are still confused." These are arrogant words of pride in one's own great qualities, and unbearable abusive language has already been directed towards the holy ones. And again, it is said: "It is very difficult to obtain a human being. The experience of cultivating wisdom is also very small. It is difficult to enter the solitary place of samsara. Life is also very fragile. It is difficult to find a good spiritual friend. Even if there is no faith, why is there so much hatred?" Like this, speaking with deceptive words as if one is very knowledgeable, saying to others: "It is difficult to obtain a human body, and when encountering the profound Dharma, do not generate hatred." Although saying this to others, immediately afterwards, it is said: "For you who are consumed by hatred, it is clear that leisure and fortune are far away." Because harsh words of hatred were uttered, the fault of speaking to others immediately fell upon oneself. And also, some people themselves interpret the profound sutras with only bad explanations that completely contradict the meaning of the words, and say: "Other sutras like this are also clearly explained as definitive by this scriptural authority." Like this, explaining those parts of some sutras that are very clear and cannot be obscured by distortion as merely definitive. Like the great demon Chitor, they are destroying the Buddha's teachings, and to those holy ones who have faith in the Buddha's teachings, these people say: "These people have distorted the meaning of the Buddha's teachings." Saying this is to attribute one's own faults to others, which is the behavior of a hypocrite, deceiving one's own students. Similarly, the very famous Lekden also said: "The noble Asanga was not prophesied by the Buddha." This is either acting rashly without having seen the Root Tantra of Manjushri, or it is a deceptive means of concealing it even if it has been seen. He hid many of the good explanations of the teacher Vasubandhu, but said that he knew them himself, and sometimes he strongly opposed Vasubandhu, which is also the behavior of a hypocrite. However, if one acknowledges that all appearances and sounds are primordially empty and free from elaboration, and does not affirm or deny ultimate wisdom, but remains neutral, then because there is no slander, there is also no fault.
