The implements and ornaments, along with hundreds of musical instruments, etc., which were completed around the age of thirteen, did not become objects of enjoyment for ordinary people, and they remain so even now. At the age of fifty-seven, to commemorate his deceased mother, a large memorial was also built. Almost at the same time, although the guardian deity of Shung Shabdrung descended, due to the requests of some people with sectarian biases and unknown origins, the ideas and key points were deviated. Therefore, according to the order of the Kashag (government), the permanent resident was invited from Chakchen, and atonement was performed for his illness and death. It is said that the steward did not give enough respect. After about twenty-one days, the situation was revealed, and a new temple was built to commemorate him. All possessions were also distributed to the Sangha assembly, the guardian deity was purified, and many days of confession were performed. Signs were seen that he would not fall into lower realms. In the early winter of the Monkey year (Tibetan year), he went to Zhikhatse. In order to fulfill the wishes of the Kashag (government), extensive teachings were given, and it is said that the swelling on his feet at that time, the symptoms of illness, also dispelled the doubts of the Kashag (government). As prophesied by Kurukulla, he frequently traveled back and forth to the permanent residence, and his body became healthier day by day. At the beginning of the Bird year (Tibetan year), he was taken to Jonang. Many people from U-Tsang (Central Tibet), including the Khenpo and disciples of Mokchokpa, both Tibetan and Chinese, as well as the various great and small Lamas of Tsang, the Lamas and monks of Lhatö Lho and Jang, local officials, and a large gathering of male and female lay devotees, expressed their respect with abundant material and spiritual offerings. The practice of the Six Yogas in strict retreat was also more extensive than in previous years. The Vajra dances, etc., at the time of introduction were also more grand than before. Shortly thereafter, the steward Songchen Rapba became ill on the twenty-fourth of the second month, and on the twenty-sixth, grand Sang, Torma, and tea offering ceremonies were held. On the day of the cremation, the sky was clear, rainbows surrounded, and many wonderful signs appeared. Jetsun himself said: This...

About ten years before his death, he was diligently engaged in excellent practice, and also undertook the great responsibility of building temples and so on. Therefore, he had confidence that he would not be born in a bad place, because he did not need to pursue worldly roots of virtue. However, his mind was very strong in his own sectarian beliefs, and he only focused on the eternal Jonangpa, which caused his power to expand to the point where it was unacceptable to everyone. This may have caused some harm to some other aspects. Even if it did not cause harm, he was accused and slandered because people developed feelings of love, hate, and suspicion. Apart from his own practice, writing, and teaching the Dharma, he was not interested in any other matters and did not conform to others. Therefore, he seemed to have become dictatorial. The great and small patrons, lamas, monks, and those who were mixed with the desires of this life, as well as those who had grudges and wrong views, and those who came to visit and seek Dharma, all felt that he did not act according to their wishes. Many people, both high and low in status, who had previously had connections with him in terms of power and religion, used this as an excuse to slander him. He thought that these actions might lead to serious sins, so he said that he should accumulate extensive roots of virtue for future needs. He also performed extensive tea offerings, almsgiving, consecration ceremonies, monastic gatherings, and temple construction. The venerable one performed purification and so on in a non-conflicting manner, accomplishing many incredible feats. Furthermore, at that time, the great disciples and close attendants who were by his side carefully observed the venerable one's body, speech, and mind activities and deeds, and said: How can it be that someone like the second Buddha is subject to malicious accusations that some patrons dislike, and baseless slanders from some people? Is this the fault of the steward? He replied: In general, even if a fully enlightened Buddha were to personally appear in this degenerate age, it would be difficult to please and respect everyone. As the saying goes, "The higher you are, the more lonely you are; the more tattered you are, the more dogs dislike you," just like the common worldly proverb. You should understand the reasons mentioned above. In general, the happiness and suffering of sentient beings 17-37
