It is also said that there were more than a thousand good consorts, and some say five hundred. So many were gathered. If you are a practitioner of mantra, can you use all of these in one day? 17-114 When he handed them over to the teacher, the teacher prophesied that he would be urged to practice yoga with elaboration. Knowing that it was that prophecy, he practiced the yoga of disciplined conduct together with them. In order to show his own power, he made their bodies devoid of essence, like corpses. Endowed with the splendor of the sun, on the second day, he soared from the top of the palace, whirling in the sky like a sound, and resided in a distant pleasure garden. That place also became a supreme pure land. Because there were so many female messengers, he also performed six months of particularly grand gatherings of the assembly. While residing on a mountain called Girnari, the state of accomplishment of the Great Seal fell into a lower state. At that time, at dawn, the earth shook and a great sound arose. Fragrance pervaded everywhere, a rain of flowers fell, and the sound of music resounded from the sky. All beings directly saw it. They simultaneously saw the faces of the Buddhas of the ten directions. Various yidams and all accomplished ones personally came and gave blessings. For seven days, non-humans from the three places (body, speech, and mind), heroes, and dakinis continuously made inconceivable offerings. On that mountain, he again resided for six months solely in signless samadhi. Then, while residing on a mountain called Khagendra in the south, the king of the country of Banga, named Gaja Tumbo, came to hunt. He saw a deer, a harini, at the corner of the mountain. He followed after it, and that harini turned into a tiger. There, after examining it a little, it disappeared like a red flash of fire. It entered a hut made of leaves. When the king went to look at it, he saw a monk with great splendor sitting there. When he asked who he was, he did not speak twice. When he asked the third time, he replied, "What does the king of sinful deeds have to say?" 17-115

He said, "I am a yogi." Overwhelmed by his commanding gaze, the king developed even greater faith and prostrated at his feet. As they engaged in various truthful conversations, the retinue also arrived there, prostrated at the feet of the master, and were delighted by his Dharma teachings. He revealed the essential meaning to a Brahmin boy, who then performed many songs and dances and disappeared. His name was said to be Jnanamadeva, and he was said to be the first accomplished disciple of this master. Then, a monk Pandit named Gambhiramati came to the master, and with great faith, vowed to be his disciple, performing all services and dwelling there. Knowing that he was a suitable vessel, the master bestowed empowerment and instructions. He also practiced diligently, and soon attained the siddhi of swift feet. Wherever the master went by miraculous power, he was able to go there to serve the master. Then, the master went to the land of Maru, and with a rigid gaze, he stiffened the heretics and the Turks (i.e., the barbaric Tajiks). With a controlling gaze, he controlled the people and leaders of the land. He also taught the Dharma to the people, and as a result, many with extraordinary wisdom arose. Because there were especially many Buddhists in this land, most of the Sangha relied on him. There were six disciples to whom he gave uncommon instructions: Pandit Vimalasahaja, Pandit Chandra Akara, and Ratnakara, these three being monk Pandits, as well as lay Pandit Sugata, yogini Umapati, and yogini Taranga. Among them, the first three also attained special realization of the generation and completion stages, and were able to accomplish verbal curses and truthful speech. All three of them directly saw Vajrayogini. Layman Sugata mastered the four activities of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and destroying, and especially in worldly activities, he was able to accomplish them without hindrance. These four masters together went to see the eastern regions, and saw that the barbarian Pathanas of the eastern regions were causing great suffering to the local people, and that all the inner and outer temples were being destroyed. Especially the Deva Giri on the seashore...
