Doronatha's Teachings JT336: A Tale Like a Source of Precious Jewels, a Wonderful and Extraordinary Biography of the Lineage Possessing Seven Transmissions. A Tale Like a Source of Precious Jewels, a Wonderful and Extraordinary Biography of the Lineage Possessing Seven Transmissions. The First Transmission: The Occasion of the Mahamudra Lineage. A Tale Like a Source of Precious Jewels, a Wonderful and Extraordinary Biography of the Lineage Possessing Seven Transmissions. Oṃ Svāsti. Namo Guruve. A Tale Like a Source of Precious Jewels, a Wonderful and Extraordinary Biography of the Lineage Possessing Seven Transmissions. I prostrate at the feet of the holy Guru. To all beings, the path of Vajradhara, to the assembly of root and lineage Gurus who illuminate it, with respectful mind, again and again I prostrate, and briefly describe their deeds. Even the wondrous conduct of a single accomplished being, with miraculous tongues, cannot be fully described in hundreds of eons. However, I write as it comes from the Guru's words. Here, our holy Guru, known as Sangye Sebpa's Protector, is one whose activity is such that in each moment, he merges with the intention of all Buddhas of the three times, and the ocean of speech, melody, and branches. Therefore, how can the extent of the holy Dharma he possesses be measured? However, the root Guru of the Lord himself, the great accomplished Shiwai Zhalnga, is renowned as possessing seven transmissions of blessings. And the Lord himself has also perfectly heard all of those instructions. Here, the first transmission is the essential instruction of Mahamudra. That is, the great teacher, the Brahmin Holder of Sound, was born in the land of Oḍibisha (Odisha). His caste was Brahmin. From youth, he became skilled in the Vedas and their branches, and all the eighteen sciences, the eight examinations, and so forth. While he was having five hundred Brahmin boys recite secret words, Vajrayogini came in the form of a wine-selling woman. She repeatedly bestowed upon the teacher the nectar of ultimate wisdom, appearing as an intoxicating substance, causing him to be without discrimination.

Pray! Although he had attained excellent samadhi internally, a bad reputation arose that he had 'caused the Brahmin caste to decline.' There, the Brahmins wanted to humiliate him, but the teacher, having gained power through the strength of inner yoga, performed the act of vomiting wine on the Brahmins. He threw a large stone into the ocean and said, 'If I have drunk wine, may this stone sink! If you have drunk it, and I have not, may it float!' After saying this, the stone floated on the water. There, the Brahmins, subdued by his power, went to the central region, took ordination in the Buddhist teachings, and gradually became the most excellent Tripitaka monks. The abbot of this teacher was called Sthavira Nagpo. His abbot was called Bhikshu Asvaghosa. His further abbot was Nera-sbhas, so the lama said, but these old abbot lineages are difficult to verify. In the Tibetan Vinaya lineage, although it is said that he was a direct disciple of Rahula, it is better to leave it without investigation. Then, he became the abbot of Nalanda, widely propagated the Dharma, and it is said that the Mahayana Sutra Pitaka also became extremely prosperous during the time of this teacher. After that, he intended to engage in the conduct of crazy wisdom, and while his mind remained unmoving from signless samadhi, he traveled to various places. Eventually, in the south, in a place called Marahatta, he saw a field yogini who would liberate his own continuum, a daughter of an arrow maker. Through her drawing of the bow and so on, the meaning of reality was symbolized through metaphors, and it became as if he had been introduced to it, and he directly saw the nature of reality. Taking that arrow maker's daughter as his consort, he practiced in various places and engaged in the work of making arrows. As his wisdom increased more and more, his name became Yasarah, meaning 'arrow joined.' Previously, he was the sthavira of all the sangha, so it was not very appropriate, and countless people, including the king, came to see and mocked him. The teacher, like drawing a bow, said: 'Hey, I am a Brahmin, I engage with a prostitute, I have not seen caste or non-caste.'
