After that, he developed faith in Buddhism. He requested instructions from many, including Paṇḍita Prabha Varma, the great teacher Ratna Rakṣita, Vibhuti Chandra, and Deva Akara. He also requested and mastered the five tantras of Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, Vajrabhairava, and the combined Seat Four. Later, he met the younger Kusali Bhadra and received all the whispered instructions. He meditated single-mindedly, but desires harmed his mind. Therefore, he practiced austerities and meditated in the forest for seven years. There, he personally met many past accomplished ones, such as Lui-pa and Byadali-pa, and received their teachings. They said, "Go to the city, and your desired purpose will be accomplished." The next day, he went to the city and saw many singers and dancers performing, which caused his mind to be completely liberated and he attained accomplishment. After that, he traveled by means of magical powers and widely taught the Dharma to people. Then, in various places, he slightly showed wondrous signs to those who were fortunate and explained the essential meaning, causing countless people to attain liberation of mind. He remained in that body for about two hundred years. This teacher composed many songs about the meaning of realization, as well as short treatises on the tantras. He transmitted the instructions to Yeshe Shenyen. If counted according to the learned lineage of paṇḍitas, there are many names, but they are not detailed here. If counted according to the lineage of blessing and oral transmission, during the time of the younger Kusali, Asita Ghana, and Yeshe Shenyen, tracing the lineage of paṇḍitas, it seems that there would be fifteen to twenty guru lineages. That teacher was of the lower caste, from the region of Tripura, and was ordained in the Jagaddala Monastery in the east. He was respected by many monks.
