It is said that one will quickly attain supreme accomplishment. Then, while residing in undistracted samadhi at Pullahari, it happened once that he had to debate with the tirthikas. That was in a monastic community, there was a debate with a learned opponent of the tirthikas. When they could not debate with him, an old woman said: There is one named Glorious Good Fame, Gam Yona, . The monks searched and found him. They requested him to debate, and thinking it would benefit the Buddhist doctrine, he debated the next day. The debate was slightly defeated. Thinking, "Why would I, such a lord of speech, be defeated?" He remembered the guru's instructions, and prayed to the guru. Immediately, the debate was victorious again. Tilopa, holding a human head with blood dripping, appeared in the form of a terrifying beggar. Naropa prostrated at his feet. The tirthika said: You Buddhists say you are compassionate, 17-63 but by prostrating to this rakshasa without compassion, you yourself have been defeated. Tilopa made a threatening gesture towards the tirthika's temple, shouting, "Defeated! Defeated!" and danced. The temple collapsed. There, in both debate and power, the Buddhists were victorious. Because he slightly broke the guru's instructions, he did not attain supreme accomplishment in that lifetime. It is said that as soon as he abandoned his body, he became a Buddha. This master mostly resided in Pullahari. Sometimes he traveled to various places, giving empowerments, teaching tantras and instructions, subduing tirthikas with debate, and so on, performing many deeds of a wise one. Mainly, he benefited sentient beings by accomplishing the twelve great deeds without obstruction. He always saw the faces of all the yidam deities. He was a great siddha who had mastered the common siddhis. The disciples of this master were: the omniscient Shantipa of the time of debate, the gatekeeper panditas, and Jowo Je Atisha and other many lords of the doctrine. There were also uncommon disciples: four who were skilled in the father tantras, and four who were skilled in the mother tantras, holding the teaching lineage, making eight in total. The first four were: Black Fearless Vajra, Pito Hadu, Jaya Kara, and Kashmiri Akara Siddhi. The latter

Zhi na. Ma Nagaśrī, Dharma Mati, Phaṃ Tingpa Chenpo, Prajñārakṣita. All of them were masters of their abilities. Some say that Piṭavahadu and Dharma Mati are the same person as Dharma Mati. The first four are said to have subdued Jñānagarbha. There were four disciples who attained accomplishment: Glorious Supreme Ḍombi, Riripa, Kandha, and Kasoripa, all of whom attained siddhi. These four disciples, thirty-two in all, are recorded as they were known in Tibet in the past. Glorious Supreme Ḍombi was initially a cowherd for the king's many cows, and he was illiterate. Having developed faith in Nāropa, who resided in a monastery, he repeatedly offered milk and butter. Then, the teacher Nāropa also taught him a method for generating bodhicitta, and after initiating him into the Hevajra mandala, he also taught him a method of meditation. While he was meditating, he was once carried away by a flood and swallowed by a fish. Inside the fish's belly, he directly saw the Heruka mandala and was safely expelled. After that, in the presence of the teacher, he practiced renunciation of all worldly activities and meditated single-mindedly, attaining supreme siddhi. The light of his wisdom expanded to all the Dharma, especially to all the Vajrayana. Because he also taught many disciples, siddhas emerged. There, it became necessary to compose many treatises, and after relearning the alphabet, he refuted all the challenges of non-Buddhists and Buddhist paṇḍitas with words of Dharma. His fame spread in all directions. He was also Atiśa's teacher. Although Tibetans say that Jowo did not directly meet him, in Jowo's "Practice of the Unwavering Ultimate Meaning," it is said that he directly heard it from Ḍombi, and in the fourth chapter of that treatise by Ḍombi, Jowo's commentary also appears. There, words indicating that he directly received those teachings also appear, and it seems that he met Indian scholars. I also saw the Sanskrit original of that commentary in the hands of the teacher Nirvāṇaśrī. The teacher Little Ḍombi was questioned by Little Kuśalabhadra. That teacher was born in a place called Mebar in western India. From a young age, he was proficient in many fields of knowledge and was a great master of non-Buddhists.
