An old woman who gathered firewood came to that side to gather wood. She was seen sometimes laughing and sometimes crying. One day, the teacher went to her house and asked her. She said, "I laugh because you preach the Dharma like Vajradhara Buddha preaching the Dharma. I cry because you don't explain the Dharma according to the intention of Vajradhara." The teacher said, "Then please dispel my doubts." The old woman said, "I cannot dispel them. Please ask Pal Phagtsangpa." The teacher asked, "Where is he?" The old woman said, "He is in a bad city in the north." So the teacher set out to find him. In a dilapidated city in the north, he met Pal Phagtsangpa, who was driving a large herd of pigs in front of him, and carrying a large bundle of firewood with a wicked woman. The teacher understood that these were all symbols: carrying firewood symbolized not abandoning anger, but purifying it in its own place; being with the wicked woman symbolized the purification of desire; driving the herd of pigs symbolized the purification of ignorance. So the teacher asked to be taken in. Pal Phagtsangpa said, "I am a wicked person who cannot even read. To say that you need instructions is clearly looking for trouble." Saying this, he angrily beat him. Then he went into a dirty corner that looked like a pigsty in the city. The teacher leaned his head against the doorstep at night, and stood guard at the door with a wooden stick stuck in the ground. During the night, the pigs fought each other and soiled the teacher's water. The teacher beat the pigs, and the old woman came out to stop him, pretending to be very lowly, without saying a word. The teacher stayed there for many days. One morning, Pal Phagtsangpa said, "What does this person at the door want?" The old woman said, "He says he wants you to take him in." Pal Phagtsangpa said, "This person thinks he is a pandita, and is arrogant and conceited. He is not a vessel for receiving the profound Dharma." The teacher thought, "My purpose will surely be accomplished." So he repeatedly prayed and received empowerment, as well as all the instructions and subsequent instructions. Pal Phagtsangpa also gave the teacher one of his daughters, who looked very ugly, and said, "Take her as a consort and practice well." After that, the teacher became the patron of the former king again.
