Me, direction 16-436 All the Sangha of the four directions were offered with necessities. The story that happened during the time of the venerable Nyebe, this is the fourth. Fifth, the story of the time of the venerable Dhītika. Again, the venerable Nyebe entrusted the teachings to the venerable Dhītika. His history is that in the country of India, there was a wealthy Brahmin with a lot of wealth. He had a son named Dhītika, who was bright, learned, upright in mind, and proficient in the four Vedas and the eighteen branches of knowledge. The father was very pleased and built a house for him, intending to take a bride. But he said: I have no desire for a home, please allow me to renounce. The father said: Even if you are not possessed by a demon and renounce, do not renounce until I die. You should also take care of these Brahmin relatives. He listened to his father and lived a life of celibacy at home, teaching the harmless knowledge to those five hundred Brahmins. At some point, the father passed away, and he gave all the family's wealth to ascetics and Brahmins, and then, together with five hundred relatives, embarked on a wandering life. They traveled to sixteen great cities, asking the famous heretics and Brahmins about the path of celibacy, but did not receive satisfactory answers. Finally, in a destroyed place, they asked the venerable Nyebe. There, with great faith, he renounced and took full ordination, and Nyebe showed him seven teachings, and within seven days, five hundred Brahmins attained the state of Arhat. The venerable Dhītika meditated on the eight liberations. He caused many places and the chief Brahmins of the places to have great faith in the Buddha's teachings. When the venerable Nyebe entrusted the teachings, the four types of disciples in the six cities received prophecies. 16-437 He made the Buddha's teachings flourish and placed all sentient beings in happiness. Once, in the land of Thogar, there was a king named Minar. All the inhabitants of that land worshiped the sky god, and otherwise, they did not even know what was good and what was evil. During festivals, they would offer grain and clothes.

I offer to the sky with precious incense and the great smoke from burning many fragrant trees. When they were making offerings, the noble Dhitika, with a retinue of five hundred Arhats, descended from the path of the sky and sat on the prepared seat. They also thought of those people as gods of the sky, prostrated at their feet, and made extensive offerings. The noble one taught them the Dharma, and the king and thousands of others saw the truth. Countless people took refuge and were established in the precepts. He stayed there for three summer months, and the Sangha also increased immeasurably. About a thousand also attained Arhatship. After that, the road between that place and Kashmir became very convenient, and many Kashmiri elders came there, and the Dharma became very prosperous. Even during the time of that king and his son Imashya alone, there were about fifty great monasteries, filled with countless monks. Furthermore, in the east, in Kamarupa, there was a Brahmin named Siddha, who had wealth equal to a great king, and with many thousands of attendants, he was devoted to worshiping the sun. When he was worshiping the sun, the noble Dhitika displayed a miracle of coming from the center of the sun's mandala, radiating many rays of light, and sat in front of him. He also thought it was the sun, and while offering and prostrating, the noble one taught him the Dharma, and when his faith became very strong, the noble one manifested his own body. The noble one taught the Dharma again, and that Brahmin saw the truth, and with great faith built a temple called "Great Stupa." There, he also held a great festival for the Sangha from the four directions, thus making the Buddha's teachings even more prosperous in the Kamarupa region. At that time, in the west, in Malava, there was a Brahmin named Arrogant, who did not wear a turban and ruled the kingdom. Every day he slaughtered thousands of goats and performed sacrifices of flesh and blood. He had a thousand sacrificial hearths. He also made all his Brahmin attendants perform Ajamedha sacrifices according to their respective wealth. He also made those who were not Brahmins collect the materials for the sacrifices.
