The explanation and practice of the behavioral tantras gradually declined. Therefore, during the seven generations of the Pala dynasty kings, there were very many Vajra Acharyas of mantra who were able to accomplish various activities and siddhis, and the reason for this was also this. Around this time, a small king of the Chandra lineage attained accomplishment, named Prakasha Chandra, that is, Extremely Clear Moon. He extensively taught the Yoga Tantras. In addition, more than half of the eighty-four accomplished masters of Buddhism also appeared before the time of Dharmakirti, as will be explained below, up to King Zanaka. During the time when the Six Ornaments were alive, the Mahayana teachers were very learned, and the Sangha was also good, except that the number of Shravaka Sangha was the most numerous. From this time onwards, the teachings of the southern tantras also gradually weakened and soon disappeared. The teachings of other places also gradually declined. During the seven generations of the Pala dynasty, Magadha, Bengal, Odibisha, and other lands under the sun, as well as the Kashmir region, became very prosperous. Other places had only scattered distributions. The small country of Nepal was particularly prosperous. In those places, mantras and Mahayana were particularly prosperous, and although the Shravaka school was generally very prosperous, kings and other virtuous people all worshiped Mahayana. Among the Mahayana scriptures, the sutras were mainly taught before, and commentaries were taught as auxiliary, but later, except for the Prajnaparamita Sutra, in a reversed manner, the treatises of the teachers became the main content of teaching and study. The story of King Gobi Chandra and others, this is the twenty-seventh story. Twenty-eighth, the story of the time of King Gopala. In the border area between the central region and the east, near the forest where Likara trees grow luxuriantly, a beautiful woman of the Brahmin caste united with a tree god, and later gave birth to a boy with auspicious signs. After growing up a little, he dug the ground at the root of the tree where the tree god resided and found a jewel that emitted its own light. He received initiation from a teacher and obtained the practice lineage of the goddess Cunda.

Having requested, he carried it out. He secretly carried a small wooden staff, the hand implement of his tutelary deity, without ever being separated from it. One day, the goddess appeared to him in a dream and blessed him. Then he went to the temple of the noble Khasarpana, and prayed to obtain kingship. He was prophesied, "Go to the east, you will obtain kingship." So he went to the east. 16-588 At that time, many years had passed without a king in the land of Bengal. All the people were uneasy and suffering, so the chief leaders gathered and deliberated, and appointed a king in order to govern the land with laws. Some said it was the queen of King Gopi Chandra, others said it was the queen of Lalita Chandra, in any case, a powerful and cruel Naga woman, who had previously been the queen of a magical king. The one who was appointed as king was eaten by her that very night. In this way, whoever was appointed as king was killed. However, people said that without a king the kingdom would not be auspicious, so every morning they appointed a king, and that night she would kill him, and at dawn they would remove the corpse. This custom was carried out by the people in turns for several years. It happened that the accomplished goddess Tundra went to a house and saw them overwhelmed with suffering. When she asked the reason, she was told that the next day it was the turn of their son to be king. He said, "If you give me wages, I will substitute." They were very happy and even sang songs. The next morning, he was appointed as king. In the middle of the night, the Naga woman transformed into the form of a Rakshasi and came to eat him as before. He struck her with the hand implement of his tutelary deity, and the Naga woman died on the spot. The corpse removers came in the morning, and seeing that he was not dead, everyone was amazed. Then others also volunteered to substitute, and he was appointed as king seven times in seven days. Then everyone said, "This one is endowed with great merit." So he was permanently appointed as king, and was given the name Gopala. In the early part of his life he ruled Bengal, and in the later part he also conquered Magadha, and built a temple called Nalendra near Odantapuri. In those two great countries he established many monastic communities and made extensive offerings to the Dharma.
