Claiming to be a direct disciple, and wanting to obtain prophecies from corpses, etc., are untimely nonsense. It is also said that the philosopher Dharmakīrti beat the victory drum seventeen times, but Buddhist monks do not have the custom of beating the victory drum. It is also said that a naked ascetic with a spear appeared, saying that whoever lost would be killed by this spear, and then a debate ensued. Some say that Dharmakīrti did not debate, but used divine power to defeat the opponent, but it is inappropriate to think of defeating the opponent with behavior that contradicts the naked ascetic's own tenets. For the wise, it is meaningless to argue with stories and legends that have never been heard of. Thus, among these six ornaments, Nāgārjuna, Asaṅga, and Dignāga are the authors of the treatises, and Āryadeva, Vasubandhu, and Dharmakīrti are the commentators. They are known as the Six Ornaments because they each relied on their own era and had the same activity of illuminating the teachings. Devānanda the Brahmin appeared later, so it is extremely wrong to say that he was a direct disciple of Dharmakīrti. At that time, the yogis who attained accomplishment were: the great teacher Lāva pa, Indrabhūti the Second, Kukkurāja, the teacher Padmāvajra, and Lalitavajra, who were roughly contemporaries. Although many people named Padmāvajra have appeared, the Sea-Born at this time is the Second. There are many Sanskrit equivalents of Sea-Born, one of which is Madoruha. And the teacher Kukkurāja, who is widely known as the Dog King, or in some historical documents as Kutarāja, was well known to the yogis of the past. During the day, he taught the Dharma to a thousand dog-shaped heroes and yoginis, and at night he went with them to the cemetery to practice the samaya, such as the tsok khorlo. He practiced in this way for twelve years, and finally attained the siddhi of Mahāmudrā. He taught the five classes of inner tantras and many yoga tantras, and it is said that he attained accomplishment by relying on the Moon Secret Bindu Tantra. The teacher

Lali. Tava Vajra was a pandita of Nalanda. He relied on the Tantra of Manifesting Illusory Net and practiced the noble Manjushri as his yidam. He asked his teacher about the sadhana of names such as Vajrabhairava and Vajrakara. The teacher said, "These do not exist in the human realm, so I do not know them. For that purpose, practice a deity you desire." So he single-mindedly practiced the noble Manjushri, and after about twenty years, he saw the face of the deity and received the blessings of the tantra. He also obtained some common siddhis. He also received a prophecy to bring forth the Yamari Tantra from the Dharma Treasury of the place of Oddiyana (Ujjain). So when he went to Oddiyana, he competed in power with some non-Buddhist yogis. When they looked at him, the teacher fainted and fell to the ground. When he came to, he prayed to the Vajrayoginis, and Vajra Vetali appeared and empowered him in the Yamari mandala. There, he meditated on the four yogas of the completion stage, and after two and a half months, signs of attaining great siddhi appeared. He subdued a fierce forest buffalo and rode it, and also performed some crazy yoga practices. After that, from a place in Oddiyana called Dharma Ganja, he wanted to bring forth the Yamari and other tantras for the benefit of future sentient beings. The dakinis said, "We will give you as much as you can hold in your mind in seven days." Hearing this, he prayed to the supreme deity. As a result, the body, speech, and mind of all the Tathagatas, the Yamari Black Tantra, the Three Vows, the Seven Distinctions, and other dharanis, tantras, and many scattered stages of distinction were absorbed into his mind. He especially propagated these teachings in Jambudvipa (the southern continent). In a small western country of non-Buddhists called Naravarma, he competed in power with the non-Buddhists. Some of the non-Buddhist leaders ate a bag of poison each. The teacher ate about ten people's worth of poison and drank two pots of mercury wine, but was unharmed. The king was therefore very impressed and converted to Buddhism.
