The king bestowed power upon Buddhism. Thereafter, he pleased the kings, minor rulers, and principal figures of the West and Central regions with those riches. In a conflict with the king of Stag-gzig, he killed most of the warriors of Stag-gzig, including King Khuni Mamapta. The king entrusted the dominion of most of the lands beneath the sun and in the West to Buddhism. He restored all the dilapidated temples of the past. 16-500 He invited the Sangha. At glorious Nalanda, he established eighty-four Dharma foundations, seventy-one of which were established by the king himself, and the rest by the queen and ministers. At that time, there also came a later Mati Citra who had directly seen the face of Manjushri, and he became the king's guru. The Sangha made offerings at the top of the king's palace, and gave food to the heretics outside the gatehouse. In this way, he greatly revived the declining teachings. This was the nineteenth period of the holy Dharma's resurgence after encountering hostile forces. 16-501 I requested, "Please lead me to where there is benefit for sentient beings." He said, "Grasp my robe." As soon as I grasped it, I arrived in Li-yul (Khotan), where I did many things for the benefit of beings and then passed away. Thus, for about forty years, the Dharma was very prosperous. At glorious Nalanda, a minister of the king named Kakkuta Siddha built a temple, and at the groundbreaking ceremony, he held a grand feast for all the people. At that time, two Mutoba who held to heretical tenets came to beg. The stern novice monks sprinkled bathwater, squeezed them between the doorposts, and set fierce dogs upon them. The two were very angry, one prepared offerings, and the other began to practice the sun. They entered a deep pit in the ground and practiced for nine years without success, so they decided to leave. The friend said, "Has your mantra been accomplished?" He replied, "It has not been accomplished." Then the other said, "Since all directions are covered with the terrible sight of famine, and I have prepared offerings with such difficulty, if you come out without accomplishing the mantra, I will cut off your head." Then he threatened him with a sharp water knife, and the man was afraid and practiced for another three years. Thus

When he became accomplished at the age of twelve, he performed a fire puja, and merely by reciting mantras and scattering the ashes of the fire puja, he caused the fire to ignite on its own. Therefore, all eighty-four temples, the foundation of the Buddhist faith, were burned down. In particular, the Dharma Treasury of glorious Nālandā, the temples where all the scriptures were kept, there were three great temples called Ratna Sāgara (宝海,precious ocean), Ratna Dadhi (宝生,precious curd), and Ratna Raṇḍaka (宝饰,precious ornament). All the texts of the Mahāyāna canon were located there, and all three of these were burned. At that time, from the top floor of the nine-story temple called Ratna Dadhi (宝生,precious curd), a great stream of water flowed down and extinguished the fire. The texts within the reach of the water were not burned. Later, when those texts were taken out and examined, it was said that they were the texts of the five classes of tantra. Some say that they were only the Guhyasamāja In any case, they were Anuttarayoga Tantra (无上瑜伽部), and there is no dispute that the Guhyasamāja (密集金刚) was among them. In other places as well, many temples were burned down. Those two heretics, fearing the king's punishment, fled to a place called Hasa-ma in the north, but due to the power of their sinful deeds, their bodies spontaneously combusted and they died. After that, many learned monks from all directions gathered together and transcribed everything that was in their memory and in the texts. The king, along with those on the side of the Buddha, the Brahmin Śaṅkara (商羯罗), the Brahmin Pūrbu (普尔布), and many faithful householders rebuilt the temples that had been burned down by the fire. Thus, of the Mahāyāna canon that had previously come to the human realm, it was divided into fifteen parts, of which about two parts were destroyed by the previous two enemies of the holy Dharma, and about one part disappeared even without the harm of enemies, and the remaining about nine parts disappeared due to the enemy of fire, so now only about one part remains. Of that, the collection of the Ārya Ratnakūṭa (圣妙吉祥真实名经), only forty-nine out of a thousand remain. Similarly, of the Avataṃsaka (华严经), only thirty-eight chapters out of a thousand remain. Of the Mahāsaṃnipāta (大集经), only nine sections out of a thousand remain. Of the Laṅkāvatāra (楞伽经), only a small portion of the Tathāgatagarbha (如来藏) chapter remains, and so on. The third enemy of the holy Dharma has appeared, and will be restored again.
