The second (Vidyādhara) made offerings with all kinds of materials. Then, this teacher, through listening, explaining, and meditating, as well as building temples, providing sustenance to the Sangha, and accomplishing the benefit of non-humans (spirits), and refuting the arguments of heretics, protected the Holy Dharma from all doors, and made incomparable kindness to the teachings of the Great Vehicle. The actual biography of the Great Brahmin and the Holy Nāgārjuna has already been narrated in the stories like the source of precious jewels in the biographies of the lineage with seven transmissions, and it should be understood there. King Sukhavati also lived for about one hundred and fifty years. This teacher lived for six hundred years, and there are two opinions, one that he lacked seventy-one years, and one that he lacked twenty-nine years. If we follow the first opinion, then he stayed in the Central Land for two hundred years, in the South for two hundred years, and on Mount Śrīparvata for one hundred and twenty-nine years, which seems to be a rough calculation. In any case, my Guru Panditas say that it is calculated by counting half a year as a year. According to the latter opinion, it is also different from other opinions, saying that he stayed on Mount Śrīparvata for one hundred and seventy-one years. From the accomplishment of extracting the essence, the color of the skin became like the color of a jewel. By meditating on Mount Śrīparvata, he attained the first bhūmi and his body was adorned with the thirty-two marks. The friend of this teacher, named Teacher Brahmin Uttara-mati, resided in front of King Sukhavati. At that time, one of the king's minor consorts knew a little about grammar, but the king did not. When they were playing in the water in the pleasure garden, the king splashed water on her, and she said, "མ་མོ་ད་ཀཱ་སེཉྩ་ (Tibetan), मा मोदक सिञ्च (Sanskrit Devanagari), mā modaka siñca (Sanskrit Romanization), Do not sprinkle water on me (literal Chinese meaning)." The king, combining it with the local language of the South, understood it as "Please give me chickpea flour mixed with sesame oil." After that, the consort thought, "Rather than living with this king who is like an ox, it would be easier to die," and she tried to commit suicide. The king caught her and made her study grammar, learning well from Brahmin Uttara-mati. However, she had not quite finished learning, so she learned from Teacher Sapta Avavarma. The history of Teacher Uttara-mati is that of the Buddha's

A Brahmin who had great faith in the seat, the noble Nagarjuna, who was diligent in the six professions [or six castes], when he was the abbot of Nalanda, there was a person who became a close friend, in the land of Rara in the east of Magadha. He recited the mantra of the noble Avalokiteshvara for twelve years, and finally offered the paraphernalia of four million gold pieces as a burnt offering, and the noble Avalokiteshvara showed his face and asked him what he wanted. He replied, "I want to benefit sentient beings with the eight great siddhis, so please send the great Black One to command." Then Avalokiteshvara granted it. From then on, all the vidya-mantras were accomplished as he wished, and each of the eight siddhas, such as Rilu, benefited sentient beings by the thousands. Those eight thousand siddhas also regarded him as their guru. He knew all the sciences without having learned them. Then he went to the western country and lived in a country where a king named Santivahana had great wealth. There, he also benefited sentient beings by combining mantras and tantras. When he came to Varanasi, he also did much to benefit sentient beings in the land of King Bhimashukala, who appeared during that time. At that time, he joined the story of Kalidasa. Then he went to the south. King Dejye wanted to learn grammar, but he could not find a teacher who was fully versed in grammar, such as Panini. Knowing that the Naga king Shesha was fully versed in Panini, the Brahmin Chose summoned him by the power of vidya-mantras. He explained all the meanings of Panini with one hundred thousand shlokas, and had the teacher write them down. A curtain was placed between the two of them. When twenty-five thousand shlokas had passed, the teacher thought, "What is his body like?" So the teacher lifted the curtain and saw a huge snake coiled there. The Naga was also ashamed and fled. From then on, the teacher himself explained it, so there were only about twelve thousand shlokas. The combination of these two is called the grammar taught by the Naga. There, he also mastered all the sciences such as grammar.
