The Bodhisattva thought, 'I too shall manifest my power.' So he grabbed it by the tail, lifted it up, and threw it far away. It crossed seven iron walls and seven moats, and fell about a yojana away. The ground in that place was depressed, so it was called the Elephant Pit, and a stupa was also built there. Then, when the youths went to the forest to demonstrate the art of cutting trees with swords, 16-30 the Bodhisattva also went there. When the others cut the trees, the cuts were uneven, and they fell as soon as they were cut. The trees cut by the Bodhisattva were even and without bends, so they did not fall but remained as before. The other Shakyas saw this and thought, 'The Bodhisattva cannot cut trees, he does not know the art of cutting,' and they began to mock and discuss. Then a whirlwind arose, and the trees cut by the Bodhisattva fell all at once, and everyone was amazed. Then the Shakya youths entered an archery contest. They set up seven iron tala trees, seven iron drums, and one iron pig statue as targets, and then shot arrows at them individually. Devadatta pierced one tala tree, Nanda pierced two, and no one else surpassed them. The Bodhisattva shot an iron arrow, and it pierced all the targets, and then flew far away again and pierced the ground. From the hole pierced by the arrow, the nagas brought forth water filled with delicious flavors, so that place was called Arrow Well, and a stupa was also built there. Then the fortune-tellers prophesied, 'If the young Siddhartha does not renounce the world before the age of twelve, he will not be eaten by demons, but will become a Chakravartin king.' ༄། །Eleventh, Taking Grakdzinma as Wife. All the leaders of the lineages attended him. All the women of noble birth came adorned with appropriate attire and ornaments according to their respective wealth. The Bodhisattva bestowed each person with one ornament each. At that time, the daughter of Shakya Vajrapani, named Grakdzinma, also went. The father said: The young man is giving ornaments, go! She said: Don't we have ornaments? He said: It's not that we don't, the young man is choosing a woman. She said: Whether he chooses or not, he is my husband's family anyway. He said: If that's the case, you must go. After that, Grakdzinma, who was as radiant as a goddess among all the women, came after everyone else. The Bodhisattva had already given away all the ornaments, and only a ring with a seal remained, which he showed to her. She climbed the steps of the throne and took the ring from the Bodhisattva's hand herself. After that, the ministers and local leaders reported to the king, saying: This woman can follow the young man's heart. Therefore, the goddess Grakdzinma and her twenty thousand attendants were chosen as the queen. ༄། །The Twelfth Story of the Tree of Good Heart The twelfth story of the Tree of Good Heart is: When the Buddha appears in the world due to the nature of Dharma, a tree called the Tree of Good Heart will appear. Therefore, between the site of Kapilavastu and Lumbini Garden, on the banks of the flowing Rohini River, that Tree of Good Heart appeared, growing a hundred cubits in one day. The trees that grow today can be cut with fingernails before the sun 16-32 rises tomorrow, but afterwards, they cannot be cut even with swords, nor can they be burned by fire. Floods often occur, submerging that tree.
