Brahmins and other beings, Were placed in immeasurable truth, and led to engage in the three enlightenments. The Forty-Ninth Story: Two Boys. The forty-ninth story, Two Boys, is as follows: Again, at another time, two pauper boys, one of the Kshatriya caste and one of the Brahmin caste, went to the place where offerings were made to the Sangha to beg. The son of the Brahmin went at the wrong time and received nothing. But the son of the Kshatriya went at the right time and received much. The Brahmin boy became angry with the Sangha and said, "If I had power, I would cut off the heads of all of them from the roots!" The Kshatriya said, "If I had power, I would satiate the Buddha and the Sangha with a hundred flavors of food!" In Nyen Yod (Śrāvastī), the Brahmin boy was sleeping under a tree when the wheel of a runaway chariot cut off his head. "All things are preceded by mind, mind is chief, mind is foremost. If one speaks or acts with a mind of intense hatred, then suffering will befall him, like a wheel following the foot of an ox." So it was said. At that time, a merchant died without a son. The merchants deliberated and investigated who among them was the most virtuous to be honored as a merchant. The former Kshatriya boy was sleeping under a tree when the shadows of the other trees moved, but his did not. Recognizing that he was endowed with virtue, they enthroned him as a great merchant, and he became endowed with immeasurable wealth. He offered alms to the Buddha and the Sangha, 16-133 The Blessed One taught him the Dharma, and he saw the truth. The Fiftieth Story: Subduing the Nagas Gawawo and Nyewa Gawa. The fiftieth story, Subduing the Nagas Gawawo and Nyewa Gawa, is as follows: At that time, the Naga kings Gawawo and Nyewa Gawa, who were able to coil their long serpent bodies around Mount Meru three times, would sleep and wake up for a long time. When they exhaled a strong wind, many creatures such as birds and wild animals living on Mount Meru and the Golden Mountain died from the poison and fell into the ocean to be eaten. Monks who had attained miraculous powers lived on the terraces of Mount Meru and meditated, but they were also affected by the poisonous wind, and their bodies became emaciated and pale.

Oh, it became very clear. Then, the Blessed One told the venerable Maudgalyayana's son: 'Go and look at the Naga kings Nanda and Upananda.' Then, the venerable Maudgalyayana's son went there by means of miraculous power, and as the two of them were sleeping, he made the sound of castanets. There, the two of them did not wake up. Even though they stepped on each other's bodies, they did not wake up. Then, he entered their stomachs, wandered back and forth, came out of their noses, rose into the sky and descended again, but still they did not wake up. Then, he transformed into a huge, extremely terrifying serpent that could wrap around Mount Meru seven times, and when he pressed down on the two of them, they woke up and looked, and knowing that they were being pressed down by an extremely terrifying Naga, they were very frightened and fled in the form of Brahmins. Just as they were close to the surrounding mountains, as they fled, the venerable Maudgalyayana's son appeared in his true form before them and said: 'Where are you Nagas going?' The two Nagas thought: 'This must be the power of this monk.' The venerable one said: 'Don't joke! Don't you respect the messenger of the teacher?' 'Then what should we do?' There, he preached the Dharma that would make them have faith, and then led them to the presence of the Blessed One. The teacher also went to the seashore and sat down. The Naga kings Nanda and Upananda and their retinues offered many offerings in accordance with the Dharma, prostrated at his feet, and then sat on one side. The Blessed One severely rebuked their evil deeds and taught the Dharma, instructing them not to harm those who lived on the slopes of Mount Meru, and established them in refuge and in the basis of training. Thus, from the time that Nanda and Upananda were established in the Dharma, many hundreds of thousands of Nagas soon came to believe in the Dharma. Om! The solitary luminous king protects from the harm of the Nagas. The solitary luminous king protects from the harm of the Nagas: Then, those two Nagas, at auspicious times, made two jeweled enclosures from the slopes of Mount Meru to Shravasti, and walked between them to serve the teacher. And sometimes at night, immeasurable palaces in the sky
